This was recently shared by Dr. Dinh Mong Kha, CEO of VietGuys, with students from the University of Finance and Marketing (UFM) at the recent UFM Integrated Job Fair.

Ms. Kha said that if you're focusing solely on marketing, business development, operations, etc., you can absolutely learn while working. For her, a university degree is equivalent to the effort and discipline required to obtain it, and doesn't determine who you will become later.

She recounted meeting people who graduated with honors but had a rather academic, bookish style. They didn't accept high grades if companies only offered them starting salaries. And she also met many people with average qualifications but who were very humble and eager to learn.

"Being willing to work for free and dedicating time to learning the ropes when you have no experience can sometimes lead to life-changing connections," said Ms. Kha.

How to convince employers when you lack experience is a question of great interest. Mr. Truong Anh Tuan, director of Vietcombank's Ky Dong branch, believes that each company may choose to recruit candidates with or without experience. At his unit, Mr. Tuan stated that 70-80% of the candidates recruited are inexperienced, alongside experienced and outstanding employees from other organizations.

"As the old saying goes, 'Wisdom doesn't come with youth, strength doesn't come with old age.' Hiring inexperienced students has the advantage that they are like blank slates and can be trained to fit the company culture. I believe the most important thing is ethics and work ethic. Working will give us experience, and with guidance, we will gradually mature," Mr. Tuan said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Le Bao Huyen, Human Resources Director of Sofitel Saigon Hotel, believes that the experience of recent graduates can come from internships. Businesses don't expect recent graduates to know how to do everything. The key to experience is that when you start working, you must consciously adapt to an environment where even meal times need to be set, not just doing whatever you like! Businesses want to see seriousness and have standards that you must adhere to.

Not to mention, students can completely choose when to do their internship. Almost no company says they only accept final-year students. "Accepting interns is also a source of human resource training for businesses with the goal of supporting the community, not just profit. So when, where, and in what field you want to intern depends on each person's goals," Ms. Huyen suggested.

Sinh viên đi làm... không lương Students work... without pay.

TT - Currently, many students seek practical experience for their future careers while still in school. They work for free for companies and organizations to gain experience.
