Follow the five teachings of President Ho Chi Minh.

Today's children are not only academically excellent, well-behaved, and actively involved in sports , but also enthusiastically participate in Youth Union and Association activities. With the guiding principle of "5 things Uncle Ho taught" in mind, they begin to contribute to their own lives and the lives of those around them through small daily actions. They not only cultivate good self-discipline but also respond to meaningful movements launched at school, in their classes, and by the Provincial Youth Council.

Thai Bao Ngoc, a student in class 3A2 at Hang Vinh Primary School in Nam Can District, said: “My classmates and I often come to school early to help pick up trash around the school, water the plants, and sweep the classroom and clean the blackboard. This is also one of the many ways I follow the five teachings of Uncle Ho, to be worthy of being a good child of Uncle Ho.”

Dinh Nguyen Minh Anh, a student in class 3A1 at An Lap Primary School in Dam Doi district, excitedly shared: “I participate in Youth Union activities to cultivate a sense of collective responsibility and spirit. In addition, I responded to the 'Thousand Good Deeds' movement of the Youth Union Council, and I found nearly 2 million VND and returned it to the owner. I want to be worthy of being a member of the Young Pioneers, making my parents and teachers proud of me. In my opinion, being academically excellent is important, but having good character is also crucial.”

In addition, some primary schools have launched practical campaigns such as: "Saving money in piggy banks to help disadvantaged students," or "Accompanying students to school"... Students save their allowance money and are ready to break open their piggy banks to donate to needy people in their local area.

“Every year, I save money in my piggy bank to contribute to helping poor students overcome difficulties. If there are floods in Central Vietnam and the school launches a fundraising campaign, I also break open my piggy bank to join in. Because I saw on TV how much the people in Central Vietnam, especially the children, suffer when faced with natural disasters and floods; their homes are gone, and their books are all soaked. I think helping those in need is a very meaningful thing to do.”

Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Youth Union Council has closely collaborated with primary schools throughout the province to implement numerous projects and activities for children, especially those commemorating the 60th anniversary of the "Thousand Good Deeds" movement. Simultaneously, there have been many commendations for children who have performed good deeds, such as helping friends in need, supporting each other in their studies, returning lost items to their owners, or simply protecting the environment and preserving their living and learning spaces.

Ms. Ho Quy Nhi, Vice President of the Provincial Youth Union Council, said: “We have held commendation ceremonies for youth teams at the district and provincial levels so that we can replicate and promote good deeds among students, especially primary school students. The Provincial Youth Union Council has also launched an app called the 'Good Deeds App.' This app is very easy to use; students just need to log in, and every time they do a good deed, they will record it on the app as a way to accumulate points. At the end of the month, the Head of the Youth Union will compile the results and commend those students who have done the most good deeds that month. I think this is a very good way to commend them. Other students will see their friends doing good deeds and will learn to do the same, thus spreading these good deeds throughout society.”

Furthermore, the recently concluded Young Informatics Competition closely followed the professional curriculum that the students learned in school. However, the exam questions also included practical applications. These were topics that allowed for creativity and were relevant to current social situations. For example, issues related to Covid-19 and cybersecurity were incorporated into the exam questions, allowing students to design visuals and audio. This showcased their thinking in understanding current societal issues.”

June 1st - For the safety of children

To boost morale, motivate children to strive for small achievements, and create a playground for children, on International Children's Day, June 1st, the Provincial Youth Council will preside over many lively activities along with the launch of the Month of Action for Children. Simultaneously, at the Provincial Children's House, there will be a chess competition, painting competition, football tournament, a festival of young propaganda teams on children's laws, and a children's forum with the theme "Joining hands to minimize harm to children".

The Provincial Children's House, in coordination with the Environmental Protection Department of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the City Youth Union, and the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau City, organized a painting competition with the theme "For a Plastic-Free Environment" for children. This meaningful activity, in response to World Environment Day on June 5th, aims to awaken a love for nature, environmental awareness, and creative artistic thinking in children. Also in June, the Children's House will cooperate with the Department of Protection and Gender Equality of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to organize the "Singing Festival for Children with Special Circumstances" in 2023. Through these activities, the aim is to contribute to the efforts of all sectors, levels, and society as a whole in caring for and creating the best environment for children to enjoy healthy recreation and entertainment.
