At approximately 2 PM on July 1st, photographer Minh Hoa captured an image of Mount Ba Den from his apartment on Nguyen Huu Canh Street, Ho Chi Minh City, about 87 km away. Clear weather conditions and excellent air quality created this rare moment.
According to Mr. Hoa, at the time of the photo, the Air Quality Index (AQI+) displayed on the AirVisual app in Ho Chi Minh City was 28, which falls within the green range. This level indicates that the air quality is satisfactory, with pollution at a low or almost non-existent level affecting health.
According to the meteorological agency, on July 1st, the Southern region of Vietnam will be affected by the Southwest monsoon, resulting in cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day. From afternoon to evening, the rain is expected to increase, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in many areas, and heavy rain in some localized areas. Temperatures in Ho Chi Minh City will range from 25-27 degrees Celsius in the early morning and at night, with a maximum of around 32-34 degrees Celsius.

A glimpse of Mount Ba Den from the center of Ho Chi Minh City on July 1st. |
Photographer Minh Hoa identified the distant mountain as Ba Den Mountain thanks to the 72-meter-tall statue of the Goddess of Mercy on the summit, and also compared the viewing direction using Google Maps.
"This is the fifth time I've captured Mount Ba Den as seen from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, and the emotions are still as overwhelming as the first time," he told Tri Thuc - Znews. He first captured this moment on June 29, 2025. After that, from September to November of the same year, he continued to take three more photos, depending on the weather conditions and visibility in Ho Chi Minh City.
This isn't the first time Mount Ba Den has been clearly visible from such a distance. On June 18th, photographer Lam Ngoc Thai also captured an image of the mountain from Mount Sam ( An Giang province ), about 139 km away as the crow flies. According to him, this moment only occurs when the weather is clear and the air quality is very good, allowing for ideal visibility.

For the first time, photographer Minh Hoa "hunted" for photos of Ba Den Mountain from the center of Ho Chi Minh City on June 29, 2025. |
Mount Ba Den is an extinct volcano located primarily in Binh Minh ward, Tay Ninh province. With an altitude of nearly 1,000 meters, it is the highest mountain in Southern Vietnam and is known as the "First Heavenly Mountain". In June, the Mount Ba Den National Tourist Area recorded a continued increase in visitors, especially on weekends, for sightseeing, worship, and experiences.
Mountain climbing activities will resume on December 12, 2025, after being suspended for over two months due to unfavorable weather and the risk of landslides during the rainy season. Currently, visitors are only allowed to conquer the Electric Pole route, from the foot of the mountain to Ba Pagoda and vice versa.
Besides mountain climbing, visitors can use the cable car system connecting Van Son peak, Ba Pagoda, and other spiritual sites on the mountain. From the cabin, one can observe the panoramic view of the Tay Ninh plain along with the cloudscape at an altitude of nearly 1,000 meters. In the early morning or on days with good weather, the mountain peak area is also a popular spot for cloud watching and photography among many tourists.
