The people's affairs are like our own.

The National Assembly deputies of Ho Chi Minh City have devoted considerable time to listening to and understanding the aspirations of the people, helping competent authorities resolve even the smallest issues faced by citizens. During these lengthy citizen consultation sessions, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly deputies' patient listening to the concerns, anxieties, and frustrations of their constituents has become a highlight in the work of the National Assembly.

On July 22, 2025, Comrade Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, met with citizens regarding the issuance of land use right certificates. This case has dragged on for a long time without a definitive resolution. Another notable case is the involvement of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, Unit No. 6, in resolving the difficulties that have lasted for over 20 years in the Vinh Loc residential area project. Thanks to the persistent supervision and recommendations of the National Assembly Deputies in the group, the project has started construction of the central park, completing phase 1 in 2023, bringing a new look to the residential area with green spaces and amenities serving the community.

Having received numerous complaints from citizens, some of which were dozens of pages long, National Assembly Deputy Tran Kim Yen shared that in some cases, citizens wrote complaints but were unclear about their purpose. The National Assembly Deputy guided them on how to rewrite the complaint. After finishing the complaint, the citizens realized that the issue was merely a matter of frustration and not worth complaining about, so they thanked the National Assembly Deputy and left.

Another case involved a family dispute, where residents filed complaints with the police, the ward People's Committee, and even higher authorities. Upon reviewing the files, it was found that the handling process by the competent authorities was in accordance with regulations, but due to frustration with the attitude of the officials, the residents decided to pursue the case to the end.

In such cases, the National Assembly representatives from Ho Chi Minh City analyze each aspect, explain legal regulations, and simultaneously draw attention to family relationships, emotions, and the traditional moral values of the Vietnamese people. They also work with local leaders to find reputable family members, organize mediation, and ultimately resolve the matter amicably, ending the lawsuit.

According to National Assembly Deputy Tran Kim Yen, the stories above show that resolving people's pressing issues requires not only adherence to legal regulations and procedures but also the responsibility and crucial role of National Assembly deputies in listening and putting themselves in the people's shoes to understand their needs. Listening helps to understand what the people want, and understanding helps to find reasonable solutions that are consistent with the law and the nature of each case.

Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, Nguyen Van Loi, shared that during the 2021-2026 term, addressing citizens' petitions was identified as a breakthrough area, with the application of information technology to monitor petitions and strengthen connections with the local administrative system, promptly urging the resolution of complaints and denunciations, contributing to maintaining social stability at the grassroots level. The social welfare activities of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation were also given increased attention, spreading a spirit of responsibility, sharing, and close ties with voters and the people.

Today (August 8th), the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6th, 1946 - January 6th, 2026) and to summarize the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, 15th term, 2021-2026. The meeting took place at the Reunification Hall.

Strengthening public engagement and thematic supervision.

Along with engaging with constituents and receiving citizens' feedback, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation always identifies oversight as a key and central task in its activities. At National Assembly sessions, the delegation consistently demonstrates a sense of responsibility, actively participating in questioning sessions, providing explanations, and overseeing important national issues.

With a deep understanding of local realities and the aspirations of voters, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation conveyed sharp questions to members of the Government , directly addressing the shortcomings and limitations in state management. Many of the questions were seriously considered by the Government and relevant ministries and agencies, contributing to the definitive resolution of issues of concern to the city's voters.

The delegation will continue to strengthen its oversight activities, focusing on monitoring and urging the resolution of recommendations following oversight and surveys.

According to Huynh Thi Phuc, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, the delegation will continue to conduct thematic surveys on building a digital government, reforming administrative procedures comprehensively, online, and regardless of administrative boundaries in Ho Chi Minh City; and thematic surveys on the implementation of National Assembly resolutions regarding public investment...

Simultaneously, research and suggestions for amendments and additions will be conducted to further refine Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly on piloting some specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City and other contents, contributing to resolving difficulties and obstacles. This will contribute to effectively exploiting the potential and advantages and mobilizing resources to meet the requirements of sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City in the coming period.
