The mandarin Huynh Cong Thang was one of the three Huynh brothers of the Nguyen Dynasty. In 1749, the Hue court sent three brothers Huynh Cong Gian, Huynh Cong Thang and Huynh Cong Nghe to govern Tay Ninh land, reclaiming and opening up new lands.
After arriving in the land of Cam Giang, he strengthened his army, recruited soldiers, practiced martial arts every day, dug trenches, built ramparts and formed armies equipped with weapons: swords, javelins, spears, bows, and crossbows to fight against foreign invaders who constantly harassed and robbed the people's property.
Under his leadership, his army fought many fierce battles and repeatedly prevented the enemy from entering our country. At the same time, protecting the homeland, he and the people reclaimed wasteland, established many hamlets and villages with a fertile land area that was expanded, helping people settle down and make a living.
He died on April 6, 1826 (Binh Tuat year) and was buried by the people in Cam Thang hamlet, Cam Giang commune. It was not until the reign of King Tu Duc that he was canonized to worship and commemorate a loyal and righteous man like him. And since then, every year on the 6th of the 4th lunar month, his death anniversary is solemnly held to remember and show gratitude for his contributions. This is also a fine cultural tradition of our people.
The temple of mandarin Huynh Cong Thang is recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic.
