The Duc Hoang Temple Festival was chaotic.

TPO - Over 5,000 people flocked to the stadium from midday, braving the heat to secure a spot to watch the volleyball final at the Duc Hoang Temple festival, filling the stands to capacity with no empty seats left.

The 24th Duc Hoang Temple Festival took place from March 16th to 20th (corresponding to the 28th day of the first lunar month to the 2nd day of the second lunar month) in Giai Lac commune, Nghe An province. This event commemorated and paid tribute to Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon – a talented general of the Tran Dynasty (13th century) who made significant contributions in fighting against the Mongol invaders. In 1998, Duc Hoang Temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic, and in 2022, it was recognized by the People's Committee of Nghe An province as a tourist destination and an OCOP (One Commune One Product) tourism product.

Within the framework of the Duc Hoang Temple festival, the volleyball tournament attracted significant attention from the public. The highlight was the men's volleyball final, with over 5,000 spectators in attendance to watch and cheer.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Phong, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Giai Lac commune, said that this year's Duc Hoang Temple Festival volleyball tournament brings together 12 men's and women's teams from localities in the former Yen Thanh district. A new feature is that the men's teams are allowed to add foreign players, contributing to improved professional quality and delivering exciting and dramatic matches.

Although the match started at 3 PM, many people had already arrived at the stadium around midday to reserve their seats. Under the scorching sun, the stands quickly filled up, creating a crowded and lively atmosphere.

Despite the record-breaking attendance, the event was well-organized, security and order were stable, and no disruptions occurred.

The final match between Giai Lac and Yen Thanh teams was exciting with many spectacular plays. Ultimately, Yen Thanh won convincingly 3-0 to claim the championship title.

Women's volleyball also attracts large crowds of people who come to watch and cheer.





Besides volleyball, the festival also features many cultural and sporting activities such as processions, rituals, tug-of-war, stick pushing, boat racing, etc., attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
