VHO - Recently, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa, in collaboration with the ASEAN Committee in Pretoria (APC), organized the ASEAN Film Festival 2023. This festival screened popular films from seven ASEAN countries: Indonesia ( The Greatest Love ), Malaysia (Eraser ), Myanmar ( The Attachment ), the Philippines ( The Two Mrs. Reyes ), Singapore ( 7 Letters ), Thailand ( Bad Genius ), and Vietnam ( Eye of the Beholder ).
This is the first time the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa has organized an event to introduce Vietnamese films to local audiences and diplomatic corps in South Africa.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Film Festival, the Head of the Asian Embassies Group in South Africa, on behalf of the APC Chairman, Mr. Myint Swe, Ambassador of Myanmar to South Africa, affirmed that the Film Festival is a practical activity that helps connect the representative offices of ASEAN countries in South Africa and contributes to strengthening multifaceted relations between ASEAN and South Africa in general, and between member countries and South Africa in particular. This activity also contributes to promoting the image of a dynamic, united, and friendly ASEAN to international friends.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa organized a booth to promote Vietnamese tourism and products to South African consumers. The items on display included tea, coffee, traditional confectionery, fresh coconut water and coconut-based products, and some handicrafts. The event attracted considerable attention and positive response from the local people.
