According to Bild and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the price for Liverpool to complete this deal is as high as 150 million euros. Wirtz would become the most expensive signing in Premier League history, breaking the record held by Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for 121 million euros in 2022.

"Liverpool and Leverkusen have reached an agreement in principle. As for Wirtz, he agreed to join Anfield two weeks ago," journalist Romano revealed.

In the coming days, the German international will undergo a medical examination to officially don the red shirt of Merseyside for the next five years. With the highest price in history, Wirtz is guaranteed a starting place and an important role in manager Arne Slot's long-term plans.

Wirtz will have the opportunity to test himself in the toughest league on the planet.

According to British media, Wirtz is set to become one of the highest-paid players in Liverpool's history, with a salary of up to £355,000 per week, second only to Mohamed Salah (£400,000 per week).

Wirtz possesses speed, technique, tactical awareness, and good finishing ability. Therefore, he can play in any position in the attacking line, even as a central midfielder. In the 2024/25 season, he played most often in the role of an playmaking midfielder, contributing to 29 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen (16 goals, 13 assists).

Wirtz will be Liverpool's third signing of this summer's transfer window, following the Merseyside club's acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for €40 million. The Dutch right-back also signed a five-year contract and completed his medical examination last month. The remaining name joining the "Reds" is Armin Pecsi, the young Hungarian goalkeeper.

Liverpool are also in talks with Bournemouth for left-back Milos Kerkez, who is valued at around €45 million. These strong moves show that Arne Slot is not just inheriting Klopp's legacy – he is rebuilding it in his own way, with "golden building blocks" like Florian Wirtz.
