Last May, Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, its thinnest phone ever, measuring just 5.8mm thick. It seems that Samsung has started the ultra-thin smartphone war, and Apple, not wanting to be outdone, will soon launch the iPhone 17 Air, its thinnest iPhone ever.

Previously leaked information said that the iPhone 17 Air is only 5.5mm thick, which means it is 0.3mm thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Recently, a series of comparison photos between the Galaxy S25 Edge and the complete model of the iPhone 17 Air were shared on social networks, showing the impressive thinness of this product duo.
Leaked images show that both products have a camera cluster that is significantly thicker than the body. The iPhone 17 Air is actually slightly thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge as leaked information, but the difference is not too big and is very difficult to notice with the naked eye.

However, Apple will have to make a lot of trade-offs to achieve the thinness of the iPhone 17 Air. Leaked information shows that the product will only be equipped with a modest 2,800mAh battery, much lower than the 3,900mAh battery on the Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to many sources, Apple is developing artificial intelligence features on the iOS 26 platform to optimize applications, helping to extend battery life on the iPhone 17 Air. However, with a capacity of only 2,800mAh, it is unlikely that the iPhone 17 Air can operate continuously for a day.

Detailed configuration information leaked about iPhone 17 Air (Photo: AppleHub).
In addition, the iPhone 17 Air is only equipped with one camera on the back due to lack of space for component arrangement, while the Galaxy S25 Edge is still equipped with a dual camera cluster, including a 200 megapixel main camera and a 12 megapixel super wide-angle camera.
In terms of configuration, the iPhone 17 Air is said to be equipped with a 6.6-inch OLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate, the latest A19 processor developed by Apple and 12GB of RAM. Due to the extremely thin design, Apple also had to remove the SIM slot and only equip one speaker on the iPhone 17 Air.
It is still unclear who the iPhone 17 Air will really target. Will customers be willing to spend a large amount of money to own an ultra-thin iPhone, but lack important features such as a multi-lens camera, low battery capacity, only one speaker...
Information about the iPhone 17 Air is currently just a rumor. The truth about this super thin iPhone will be revealed on September 9, when Apple holds a special event to launch the new iPhone 17 series.
