These days, pine growers in the province are delighted because pine resin is fetching good prices. The increased selling price not only helps to raise people's income but also creates more motivation for them to stay committed to and develop the forest.
Mr. Nguyen Van Giap's family in Na Van village, Chau Son commune, owns 5 hectares of pine trees, of which more than 3 hectares are currently being harvested for resin. Each year, the family harvests approximately 4 tons of pine resin. While in previous years the price of pine resin fluctuated around 20,000-25,000 VND/kg, this year it has increased to 35,000-38,000 VND/kg. Since the beginning of the year alone, his family has harvested 1 ton of resin, worth nearly 40 million VND. It is estimated that the total income from pine resin this year will reach approximately 150 million VND, nearly double that of last year.
Mr. Giap shared: "The price of pine resin has increased this year, and we are very happy. With higher income, our family will have more resources to invest in forest care and production development."

It's not just Mr. Giap's family; many households in the communes with pine plantations are also delighted because of the rising price of pine resin. Mr. Chu Van Nang, from Na Va village, Ba Son commune, said: "For many years, my family has maintained pine resin harvesting on our 2-hectare plantation. This year, the price of pine resin is high. From the beginning of 2026 until now, I have harvested 8 quintals of pine resin, earning nearly 30 million VND. I estimate that the family's resin production for the whole year will reach about 4 tons, with a value of over 100 million VND."
According to specialized data, the province currently has over 156,000 hectares of pine trees, concentrated in the communes of Loc Binh, Dinh Lap, Kien Moc, Khuat Xa, etc., of which more than 65,000 hectares are being used for resin extraction. In recent years, along with the value from timber, pine trees have also brought income to the people through resin extraction.
From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the amount of pine resin extracted in the province has reached over 19,600 tons, an increase of 158.7% compared to the same period in 2025. The price of pine resin has also remained high, currently fluctuating from 35,000 to 38,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 10,000 to 15,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.
In Ba Son commune, pine trees are one of the main crops. Besides efficiently utilizing the existing area, the commune also focuses on forest protection and development. Mr. Hoang Van Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Ba Son Commune People's Committee, said: Currently, the commune has over 6,900 hectares of pine trees. This year, the price of pine resin has increased compared to previous years, which is a positive sign. However, the commune always emphasizes that exploitation must go hand in hand with forest protection and development, ensuring long-term benefits for the people. Accordingly, the commune has directed the specialized department to disseminate information and guide people on proper resin harvesting techniques, ensuring that it does not affect the growth and regeneration capacity of the trees, and to promote new forest planting.
Although pine resin prices are currently high, experts advise people against over-exploitation or improper harvesting techniques. Mr. Le Van Cha, Head of the Forest Utilization and Development Department of the Provincial Forest Protection Agency, stated: To ensure long-term economic efficiency, people need to harvest pine resin according to proper technical procedures and at the correct age. At the same time, people need to strengthen forest protection and fire prevention efforts, especially during prolonged periods of hot weather.
In reality, the price of pine resin is highly dependent on market supply and demand, and can fluctuate over time. Therefore, along with expanding the cultivated area and increasing productivity, the relevant departments and the People's Committees of the communes need to focus on building a supply chain from production and procurement to processing. With the participation of businesses in product distribution and the development of deep processing, people will reduce risks related to output, thereby increasing the economic value and sustainability of pine resin exploitation.
Rising pine resin prices have contributed to increased income for forest growers. However, to ensure the sustainable maintenance of this "forest bounty," in addition to efficient harvesting, each forest owner needs to raise awareness of protecting, caring for, and developing pine forests. When harvesting is done rationally and in conjunction with forest resource protection, pine trees will continue to provide long-term economic value, contributing to livelihood development and improving the lives of the people.
