Rice prices in the Mekong Delta region today, January 21, 2025, are fluctuating. Prices for other rice varieties are relatively stable, while paddy rice prices have fallen sharply compared to the end of last week.

Meanwhile, rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. According to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: IR 50404 rice (fresh) decreased by 700 VND, fluctuating between 5,500 and 5,700 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice decreased by 700 VND, fluctuating between 5,800 and 6,000 VND; OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuates between 7,600 and 7,800 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) fluctuates between 7,600 and 7,800 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 6,600-6,700 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800-8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 rice is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today indicate that rice supplies are sporadic, and transactions of newly harvested rice continue to be slow. In Dong Thap, transactions of the winter-spring rice crop are slow; farmers are offering rice harvested before Tet at stable prices, but there are few buyers. In Can Tho , demand is slow, transactions are few, and traders are mainly buying rice harvested before the Lunar New Year.

In Long An, early winter-spring rice is being offered sporadically by farmers, with buyers slow to purchase. In Soc Trang, early winter-spring rice is starting to appear sporadically in some areas, but farmers are offering it quite slowly, and rice prices are relatively stable. In Kien Giang , transactions are slow, with traders mainly inquiring about purchasing for businesses, and rice prices remain stable; the rice fields in Tan Hiep and Rong Rieng are currently in the heading-ripening stage.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of raw OM 380 rice has decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,500 and 7,600 VND/kg; finished OM 380 rice is fluctuating between 8,800 and 9,000 VND/kg; raw IR 504 rice has decreased by 200 VND, fluctuating between 7,600 and 7,800 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice is fluctuating between 9,500 and 9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the prices of these items range from approximately 5,700 to 7,200 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran ranges from 7,000 to 7,200 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran ranges from 5,700 to 5,800 VND/kg.

Observations in various localities today indicate low supply and slow trading. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), the supply is low, trading is slow, rice prices remain stable, and some warehouses are preparing for Tet holiday. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the supply is sporadic, prices of various types of raw rice are still unstable, and some large warehouses closed early this morning for Tet.

At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap province), rice supplies have decreased, and the prices of various types of rice are relatively stable, with many warehouses ceasing purchases. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang province), rice is available sporadically, prices have fallen, warehouses are buying slowly, there is little good quality rice, and most of the rice is of poor quality.

At retail markets, rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. Currently, regular rice ranges from 15,000 to 17,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is 21,500 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice is 20,000-22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg; common white rice is 17,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice ranges from 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,500 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price for 5% broken rice is $419/ton; 25% broken rice is $395/ton; and 100% broken rice is $326/ton.
