Postpone the announcement of university admission scores.

VnExpressVnExpress19/08/2023

The Ministry of Education and Training conducted four additional rounds of virtual filtering, so the announcement of the admission scores has been delayed by two days compared to the original schedule.

The Ministry of Education and Training issued a notice on the afternoon of August 19th regarding the adjustment of the 2023 university admissions and application filtering plan. Accordingly, the filtering process will end at 2 PM on August 22nd. Universities will announce their admission scores before 5 PM on August 24th. These deadlines are two days later than previously planned.

The reason given by the Ministry is that the common admissions support system provides more data to assist schools in various admission methods. Additionally, candidates only register their preferences by major, not by subject combination or admission method. Therefore, schools need more time than expected to complete the admissions process.

According to representatives from several schools, the virtual filtering system for a group of approximately 60 schools in the north has been experiencing errors in recent days. Therefore, schools are hesitant to release projected cutoff scores. The schools stated that the Ministry announced an increase in the number of virtual filtering rounds from 6 to 10.

Meanwhile, universities in the south have made initial predictions. Gia Dinh University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education reported that the cut-off scores for many majors increased by 1-3 points compared to last year, after three rounds of virtual filtering. Some universities, such as the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, recorded a decrease of 0.5-2 points in many majors.

The announcement of admission scores, official admission results, and confirmation of enrollment for candidates has been adjusted according to the new plan. Instead of enrollment from August 22nd to before 5 PM on September 6th as initially planned, candidates will now enroll from August 24th to before 5 PM on September 8th.

This year, over 660,000 candidates applied for university admission with 3.4 million preferences. Because each candidate can register for multiple preferences, the filtering process aims to determine the most likely admission outcome.
