"Ma Xó " - a film project by director Phan Bá Hỷ - has officially crossed the 100 billion VND mark after nearly 10 days of release. This is also the 9th film project this year to reach this milestone, after "Hẹn em ngày nhật thực," "Thỏ ơi," "Nhà ba tôi một phòng," "Bầu vật trời cho," "Tài," "Quỷ nhập tràng 2," "Phí Phôn ," and "Heo năm móng ."
According to Box Office Vietnam , on the morning of June 13th, "Ma Xó" grossed 3.8 billion VND , with 44,300 tickets sold across 2,644 screenings, averaging about 17 viewers per screening. This is quite an impressive figure, especially considering the film is in its second week at the box office.

The movie "The Haunted House" continues the horror craze in Vietnamese theaters. |
In fact, this result is not surprising given the film's generally positive reviews regarding its quality, and its experienced marketing and distribution team. Previously, "Ma Xó" (The Ghost) garnered attention upon its release, surpassing 52 billion VND in its first week of screening.
Currently, the film is predicted to continue its strong box office momentum, given that Vietnamese cinemas don't yet have many strong competitors. Last week, another domestic horror film, " Lầu chú hỏa" (The Fire Tower ), was released – the debut work of director Hung Tran. The film received fairly positive feedback, but it couldn't surpass "Ma xó" (The Ghost in the Corner) and is currently ranked 3rd at the box office.
Nevertheless, with revenue of 15 billion VND after the early screening period, "The Fire Tower" is predicted to quickly recoup its investment, and may even generate a profit for the investors, as the production costs were not too high.

The horror film "The Fire Tower" is also having a successful run. |
The film "Ma Xó" features a cast of familiar actors including Lê Khánh, Tín Nguyễn, Avin Lu, Hạnh Thúy, and Sỹ Hậu...
With a running time of 102 minutes, the film tells the story of the difficult lives of a poor couple, Phu and Thao. Having suffered a miscarriage once, they must do everything in their power to care for the fragile fetus in Thao's womb. Then, their lives are turned upside down when the elderly mother-in-law passes away.
In her despair, Thao heeded the advice of a shaman and performed a ritual to summon wandering spirits to guard the house and protect her unborn child. This decision gradually uncovered a tragedy that seemed to have been buried forever.
