With the development of electronic transactions, documents, paperwork, and the exchange and sale of goods are gradually shifting from in-person to online, bringing many benefits to businesses and individuals. To meet the needs of remote connectivity and information transmission over the internet, digital signatures have become widely applied and are an essential and convenient authentication method for businesses and individuals.

Many amenities

At the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, approximately 200 people register for examination and treatment each day. All prescriptions are digitally signed. After implementing the integration of VNPT SmartCA digital signatures with the hospital's management software system, doctors can now sign and share data and prescriptions between departments, reducing patient waiting times.

According to Dr. Le Quang Thai, Deputy Director of the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, the hospital's development orientation is to apply information technology to provide the best possible medical examination and treatment services. Specifically, the hospital has collaborated with VNPT to develop dynamic QR codes integrated into payment receipts for cashless payments and incorporated digital signatures into each prescription. This significantly reduces the workload and time spent on paper record-keeping for doctors and medical staff.

For businesses, when carrying out procedures related to tax payment, customs declaration, social insurance, etc., using digital signatures is the optimal solution in terms of cost and manpower efficiency. For example, Thanh Cong Transport Company Limited, located in Tan Xuan Ward, Dong Xoai City, has used digital signatures for many years, enabling its human resources and accounting departments to easily sign, send, and process documents and legal matters electronically. Ms. Hoang Minh Hue, Head of Human Resources, shared: “Given the need for remote connectivity and online transactions, digital signatures have become an essential tool for company leaders, allowing them to sign documents anytime, anywhere, reducing the time spent on paper document circulation. Thanks to digital signatures, the process of exchanging information, data, and conducting transactions online with relevant authorities and partners has been accelerated and made more convenient.”

Residents of Chơn Thành town are being introduced to digital signatures to facilitate the handling of administrative procedures.

Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, various units and localities are currently implementing many synchronized solutions to popularize digital signatures in online public services. The Department of Information and Communications has also signed a cooperation program with telecommunications enterprises in the area to widely deploy the application of digital signatures, directly reaching each residential area, household, and one-stop service center, and land registration office at all levels to support and guide citizens in obtaining digital signatures. With the issuance of personal digital signatures free of charge for the first year of installation, people can use digital signatures when performing administrative procedures and other transactions in the electronic environment without having to print paper documents as before.

Mr. Pham Huy Thanh, residing in Phu Thinh ward, Binh Long town, said: "For procedures related to business license registration, I no longer have to go to the one-stop service center to submit documents and wait as before. I can now digitally sign documents right at home. This saves me a lot of time and money."

"The 'passport' of digital citizens"

VNPT's remote digital signature solution has now connected and integrated with more than 450 other applications such as the National Public Service Portal and the public service portals of 33 provinces and cities nationwide, banking, finance, securities, insurance systems, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, etc., ensuring that each citizen uses only one unique signature across all platforms.

VNPT is supporting people in installing digital signatures with a special offer of 12 months of free service.

Mr. Diep Dinh Mau, Director of VNPT Binh Phuoc Business Center, said: VNPT has supported people, businesses, and government agencies in installing 140,000 digital signatures. We are continuing to deploy personnel to coordinate with localities to advise and introduce the benefits of using the VNPT SmartCA remote digital signature service. The most outstanding benefit of this service is that it allows users to verify their signatures anytime, anywhere, on any device with an internet connection. VNPT is currently offering a 12-month free trial for people who register for the digital signature service.

According to statistics, the rate of online public service applications in Binh Phuoc has reached nearly 100%, with over 97% of administrative procedures processed online. However, the rate of people using digital signatures is still low. Therefore, the province has launched a 90-day intensive campaign to achieve the "4-province" goal, striving for 100% of eligible citizens to be issued citizen identification cards, have their electronic identification accounts activated, and use SIM cards registered under their own names along with digital signatures. To date, Binh Phuoc has issued nearly 252,000 digital signatures to citizens and businesses, and the operation of the cryptography committee has reached over 48%.

It is clear that digital signatures have become an indispensable "passport" in the journey of every citizen in the 4.0 era. Digital signatures and digital signature authentication services are identified as important legal factors ensuring the security of electronic transactions for organizations, businesses, and individuals in the digital environment. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications, emphasized: Given the strong demand for digital transformation, popularizing digital signatures among the people is a meaningful and practical activity. Binh Phuoc has issued many directives to popularize digital signatures among citizens and businesses, helping people conduct transactions without face-to-face meetings and moving towards a paperless society. This will help to quickly complete the conditions for the formation of digital citizens in the province. This is also a criterion for evaluating Binh Phuoc's digital transformation index compared to other localities nationwide.

The Land Registration Office of Chơn Thành town is guiding people on how to use digital signatures when submitting documents.

Personal digital signatures are considered a crucial "key" to enabling citizens' activities in the digital environment and are one of the most important digital assets, an indispensable link in forming digital citizens. However, to cultivate the habit of using digital signatures among the people, departments, agencies, and localities need to promote the provision of online public services that utilize digital signatures, thereby increasing their applicability and attracting the attention and use of the people. Only then will digital signatures truly become a practical tool, providing strong support for state agencies and becoming the "key" for every citizen in the digital age.
