Khanh Son - Khanh Hoa is a "hot" name on the list of destinations with exciting discoveries .
Khanh Son is a mountainous district located in the southwest of Khanh Hoa province, 100 km from Nha Trang city and 40 km from Cam Ranh city. To reach Khanh Son, tourists must travel from Cam Ranh and cross a mountain pass. After reaching the summit of the pass in Ba Cum Bac commune, tourists will descend into the To Hap valley.
It is precisely this unique topography that makes the summit of Khanh Son Pass a "hot" spot in Khanh Hoa for cloud watching. Because the To Hap valley is much lower than the pass summit, in the early morning the entire valley is shrouded in a romantic, ethereal mist. Tourists usually arrive around 5:30 AM, when the air is cool and the entire To Hap valley is enveloped in fog, with fluffy clouds gently drifting through the forest canopy.
Khanh Son has great potential for developing ecotourism and mountain and forest experiences.
Around 6:30 AM, the first rays of sunlight appeared, creating a layering effect among the clouds. While the mountains became more clearly visible as the clouds dispersed, the town of Tô Hạp remained like a sleepy young lady nestled in a blanket of clouds. A few minutes later, the scene unfolded like a painting, with red-tiled villages peeking through the swirling sea of clouds, alongside a winding road under the green forest canopy and neatly arranged durian hills. Captivated by this ethereal beauty, many tourists have recently traveled long distances, crossing mountain passes to the Khánh Sơn highlands to chase the clouds in the early morning.
Besides its stunning cloud-watching spots, Khanh Son also boasts Ta Gu Waterfall in Son Hiep commune, about 10 km from To Hap town. Amidst the pristine wilderness, Ta Gu Waterfall resembles a white silk ribbon woven by nature, cascading down into a cool, blue lake. The experience is best enjoyed during the summer holidays. Visitors can admire the waterfall, listen to the birds singing, and bathe in the cool stream. There's an open area next to the stream where you can set up tables and chairs and camp on days when the water level is low.
Khánh Sơn is also famous among trekking enthusiasts for its Ta Giang village in Thanh Son commune. Visitors can hike over 20 km through ancient rock formations, wading through turquoise streams, and experience the magical atmosphere of traversing bamboo forests and green meadows. Camping overnight to stargaze and enjoy a BBQ is truly romantic. Furthermore, Khánh Sơn is the capital of off-season durian, a Khánh Sơn brand, and hosts the largest fruit festival in Khánh Hòa province.
According to Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of the Khanh Son District Party Committee, Khanh Son has enormous potential for ecotourism and experiential tourism. This region possesses abundant natural, cultural, and historical values associated with the Raglai people. One can explore the Khanh Son stone musical instruments – the origin of a set of stone instruments dating back approximately 2,500-3,000 years (currently preserved at the Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum) recognized as a national treasure.
"The Khanh Son District Party Committee will focus on developing infrastructure, with the expectation that the Khanh Son - Khanh Vinh inter-district road will help connect the two most beautiful waterfalls in Khanh Hoa, Ta Gu - Yangbay (Khanh Vinh). The district will continue to focus on investment promotion programs, developing agricultural products and ecotourism, experiential tourism... to attract tourists. We strive to build the mountainous district of Khanh Son into a "mini-ecological mountain and forest city" as directed by the Politburo," Mr. Nam said.
