In spring, Bach Ma not only becomes greener but also a place where countless flowers bloom. Many forest trees sprout new leaves and display their colors simultaneously. Among these flowers, the most prominent are the rhododendrons – considered the characteristic highlight of spring in Bach Ma.

According to forest rangers and forest protection workers, rhododendrons in Bach Ma typically bloom only once a year, mainly in the spring. Therefore, this time is always eagerly awaited by trekkers and tourists, as venturing deep into the old-growth forest allows visitors to encounter vibrant patches of flowers amidst ancient trees. Meanwhile, the red rhododendron is usually a small tree, about 2.5 meters tall, with leaves clustered at the ends of branches, and young leaves covered in long hairs. Clusters of vibrant red flowers reaching up into the Trường Sơn mountain range create a captivating image. Photo: Vũ Linh

Besides rhododendrons, spring on Bach Ma mountain peak is also the time when many forest trees simultaneously change their colors. The red-leaved maple adds vibrant color to the mountainside. The Northern maple (a native Vietnamese species) also creates a highlight with its deep red leaves, making the Bach Ma landscape even more colorful. At first glance, the red leaves of the maple resemble those of temperate climates. Along with these are other flowers, creating a symphony of colors on the mountain peak, over 1,400m high . Besides the trekking routes, many famous stops in Bach Ma are named after this characteristic flower, such as Do Quyen Waterfall, Do Quyen Villa 1, Do Quyen Villa 2, etc., adding historical depth to the journey of exploring this sacred mountain. Photo: Ngoc Van - Vu Linh

Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh, Director of Bach Ma National Park, said that in recent times, the unit has intensified field research, thereby discovering and publishing 14 new species, and updating the park's catalog with more than 73 species not previously listed, including 50 plant species and 23 animal species. This shows that the biodiversity potential of Bach Ma remains very large and will continue to be expanded through subsequent surveys in the future. Photo: Vu Linh
