According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around early morning and throughout January 3rd, a cold front will affect the northeastern part of Northern Vietnam, then other areas in Northern and North Central Vietnam. Northeast winds inland will strengthen to level 3, and coastal areas to levels 3-4.

In Northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An, the weather will turn cold from January 3rd.

During this cold spell, the lowest temperatures in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces will generally be 15-18 degrees Celsius, while in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam they will be 12-14 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas, temperatures may drop below 8 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from morning and noon on January 3rd, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience increasingly strong northeasterly winds, reaching level 6, gusting to level 8, with waves 1.5-2.5m high and rough seas. In the northern South China Sea (including the waters around the Hoang Sa archipelago), the northeasterly winds will be strong at level 6, sometimes reaching level 7, gusting to levels 8-9, with waves 2-4m high and very rough seas.

From the evening of January 3rd, in the sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau , between the East Sea and the western part of the South East Sea (including the western sea area of ​​the Truong Sa archipelago), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, gusting to levels 7-8, with waves 2-3m high, and rough seas.

According to the meteorological agency, from early morning on January 3rd, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. On January 3rd and 4th, rain, showers, and thunderstorms are expected in some areas from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh.
