Developing ecotourism in gardens.
Lam Son commune is located at the foot of Ngoan Muc Pass, bordering Lam Dong province to the west, at an altitude of 1,400m - 1,600m, gradually decreasing towards the southeast. It is a naturally blessed area with a cool climate and relatively fertile soil, making it ideal for developing a concentrated fruit-growing region. It has been granted the "Ninh Son Fruit" certification mark, covering over 500 hectares, including varieties such as durian, rambutan, mangosteen, jackfruit, coconut, pomelo, and mango. Furthermore, National Highway 27 runs through the commune, creating a significant advantage for establishing rest stops and facilitating trade. This provides favorable conditions for Lam Son commune to develop its specialty fruit-growing area in conjunction with eco-tourism in orchards, combined with visits to natural attractions such as Ngoan Muc Pass, Sakai Waterfall, and Da Nhim hydroelectric power plant. As a result, it attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually.
| Picking and enjoying fresh fruit is a delightful experience for tourists. |
Following the signpost for Lam Son Fruit Garden Tourist Destination located on National Highway 27, we followed the tree-lined concrete road, laden with fruit, towards the North Lam Son area (within the villages of Lam Hoa, Lam Binh, and Lam Phu). With more than 10 orchards and a cooperative participating in the fruit garden tourism model, such as Trinh Garden, Dang Quang, Xuan Hung, Quang Lai, Thao Nguyen, etc., this is considered an ideal destination for those who love fruit and want to enjoy a fresh, green space amidst the sweltering summer heat.
Visiting the fruit orchards with her friends, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thao (a tourist from Lam Dong province) shared that her group comes to enjoy the fruit at the orchards in Lam Son commune every year. With an entrance fee of 40,000 VND per person for check-in and photos, and fruit priced reasonably by weight, she was completely satisfied. For her, enjoying ripe durians that have fallen from the tree, along with traditional, authentic local dishes, is a delightful experience. In particular, the green mangosteen salad with free-range chicken is an experience she recommends her friends shouldn't miss when visiting. While traveling in Phan Rang ward, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hoai ( from Ho Chi Minh City) was introduced to the Lam Son fruit orchards by her friends. Ms. Hoai said that the air here is very fresh, the space is green and cool, and the natural fruits create a sweet and pleasant feeling. She not only enjoyed the fruit but also picked it herself, from rambutan, avocado, pomelo to mangosteen, each with its own unique flavor.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, owner of Xuan Hung Fruit Garden, said: "This year's harvest is more favorable, with no unseasonal rains, making the processes of flowering and fruiting much easier. The fruit trees in the garden only have one season in the summer, are grown without pesticides, and are cultivated according to clean fruit production standards. Besides focusing on caring for the 2 hectares of fruit trees, this year the garden owner has also invested in the entrance gate, signage, garden regulations, Wi-Fi installation, display counters, sanitation systems, and a playground... Some local food and souvenir products from the commune and surrounding areas are also offered to tourists, such as chicken, fish, black pigs, baskets, slingshots, Chapi musical instruments, rice wine, and traditional costumes of the Raglai ethnic group; processed fruit products such as apples, grapes, wine, and apple syrup... for tourists to buy as gifts. These simple yet attractive features have helped the garden owner avoid worrying about attracting customers."

According to Mr. Doan Van Hung, Secretary of the Lam Son Commune Party Committee, Lam Son commune has one Lam Son Tourism-Agriculture Cooperative and two fruit orchard tourism model linkage groups (Northern Linkage Group and South Sakai Linkage Group) with more than 30 households participating in the fruit orchard tourism business. The linkage groups are responsible for unifying prices with orchard owners and implementing the models; ensuring food safety and hygiene during the tourist season, creating a linkage model between orchards… As a result, the number of tourists visiting increases by an average of 20-30% annually. In June 2025 alone, the orchards received between 700 and 900 visitors daily, with peak Saturdays and Sundays seeing 1,500 to 2,000 visitors. The total revenue for households participating in the fruit orchard tourism model reached nearly 1 billion VND, with the highest-earning household earning approximately 100 million VND and the lowest around 20 million VND.
With the goal of effectively exploiting the local tourism potential, especially natural and cultural tourism resources associated with agricultural activities and the community culture of ethnic groups, to create a unique tourism brand and develop the concentrated production area of specialty fruit trees in Lam Son..., in the period 2025-2030, Lam Son commune aims to encourage and promote the development of eco-tourism in orchards and related services, creating jobs, increasing income for fruit growers, and contributing positively to the local economic growth. Along with this, it will continue to invest in infrastructure such as: Upgrading transportation routes and main power lines into the core area to serve the consumption and development of specialty fruit trees in a safe and highly efficient manner.
Besides attracting tourists who come on their own, Lam Son commune will organize activities to connect with domestic and international travel businesses. Specifically, this includes: participating in exhibition booths to introduce and promote the province's tourism at cultural and tourism events; organizing famtrip and presstrip tours for surveys and discussions to gather feedback; coordinating with travel businesses to survey and develop tours and routes connecting Lam Son commune with tourist areas and destinations inside and outside the province…
