According to TASS news agency, on April 2, approximately 230 miners were being urgently evacuated after smoke rose to a depth of 190 meters at the Obukhovskaya coal mine near the city of Zverevo in the Rostov region of Russia.
TASS quoted a statement from the Rostov Regional Emergency Situations Service saying that smoke appeared at a transformer station located at a depth of 190 meters in the Obukhovskaya coal mine.

At the time, there were 229 workers in the mine, and an emergency evacuation was immediately implemented. Additionally, the announcement stated that the mine's ventilation system was still functioning when the incident occurred.
There have been no reports of casualties in this incident so far. An emergency rescue team is on the scene along with mine rescue personnel.
Obukhovskaya is one of Russia's largest coal mines in the Rostov region.
