According to information from MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, the company has officially announced the provision of 5G services. This is the third network operator to officially commercialize 5G telecommunications services in Vietnam.
Initially, MobiFone's 5G service will focus on the central areas of major provinces and cities. The network operator will expand coverage, aiming for nationwide reach in the future.
MobiFone is deploying its 5G network on the 3,800-3,900 MHz frequency band. MobiFone's 5G network is simultaneously deployed on both 5G NSA (non-stand-alone) and 5G SA (stand-alone) architectures, with speeds potentially reaching 1.5 Gbps, 10-15 times faster than 4G.
According to a MobiFone representative, individual users with a MobiFone 4G SIM and a 5G phone can immediately use the service within the 5G coverage area without needing to change SIM cards.

For corporate customers, MobiFone has announced over 100 products serving this target group. MobiFone's 5G services for businesses cover 8 priority areas for national digital transformation, including: industrial production, smart cities, energy, agriculture , healthcare, education, transportation, and smart tourism.
In fact, over the past period, MobiFone has deployed and provided solutions and services based on 5G technology at a number of agencies, units, and businesses nationwide. These include AI camera solutions for smart tourism and smart transportation, and a 5G Private network solution at Vicem Hoang Mai Cement Joint Stock Company, among others.
5G mobile telecommunications services were officially launched in Vietnam at the end of 2024. As of the end of January 2025, Viettel had a total of 5.5 million 5G subscribers. VNPT announced coverage in the central areas of all 63 provinces and cities, as well as many airports and industrial zones, with approximately 3 million users. MobiFone's official launch of 5G services will contribute to accelerating the commercialization of 5G in Vietnam.
In a recent directive, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh views accelerating the commercialization of 5G as a key task and breakthrough solution to boost economic growth and ensure the national growth target of 8% or higher in 2025. In this context, mastering 5G technology will help Vietnam achieve these goals sooner.

Given the potential of 5G technology, the National Assembly's Resolution on piloting special policies and mechanisms to create breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation has allocated a state budget to support businesses in rapidly deploying 5G network infrastructure nationwide. By December 31, 2025, telecommunications businesses that rapidly deploy 5G network infrastructure and have at least 20,000 base stations in operation will receive a 15% subsidy on equipment costs.
