In the hearts of every Vietnamese person, Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year) is a sacred time that connects kindred spirits, a time of kinship and reverence for ancestors. It is a moment when everyone, no matter where they are, longs to return to their old home, gather around the dinner table, share stories of the past, and rekindle hopes for the future.
However, for those who, for personal reasons, missed the opportunity to visit their hometown, they can only find the taste of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) of the past through simple yet heartfelt gifts from their hometown, embodying the true spirit of Tet in their homeland. At the OCOP product display store on Tran Phu Street (Hac Thanh Ward), after a visit to his hometown, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Lam, residing in Ho Chi Minh City, carefully selected specialties with the distinctive flavors of Thanh Hoa province as gifts.
Mr. Lam shared: "As the OCOP brand spread, choosing these products as gifts became a habit for me, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Because OCOP gifts today not only carry the essence of the homeland but also bring peace of mind and appreciation."
The OCOP program has breathed new life into traditional specialties. Thanh Hoa's fermented pork sausage (nem chua) and sticky rice cake (bánh gai) are no longer simply wrapped in rustic banana leaves; they now boast a sophisticated appearance, meeting stringent safety standards to reach far and wide, even internationally .
According to statistics from the Office of Coordination of the New Rural Development Program, Thanh Hoa province currently has 661 OCOP products, including 2 five-star products. But the most valuable aspect lies not in the numbers, but in the transformation of mindset in the craft. The people of Thanh Hoa now not only sell products, but also imbue them with kindness and national pride, creating a gift ecosystem rich in humanistic values and cultural significance.
The coastal region of Thanh Hoa has long left a lasting impression on diners not only for its abundant produce but also for the humane "cultural stories" told by its OCOP (One Commune One Product) products. Among them, Le Gia fish sauce from Le Gia Food and Trade Co., Ltd., located in Hong Ky village, Hoang Thanh commune, stands out in the Khuc Phu craft village with its more than 200-year history. Each drop of Le Gia fish sauce is a miraculous crystallization of "gifts from the sea."

The OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses in the province have researched and collaborated to create gift sets that are distinctly local in character.
Company director Le Ngoc Anh shared: "The 5-star OCOP title is not only a verification of quality, but also a commitment to responsibility to the community and a desire to preserve the essence of traditional crafts. We pour our heart and soul into each product, transforming local resources into practical gift solutions, where the pride of our homeland is fully embodied."
The fusion of traditional values and international standards has propelled Le Gia to reach dozens of countries worldwide. Looking ahead to the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, Le Gia Food and Trading Company Limited has skillfully incorporated its finest qualities into luxurious gift baskets, transforming each gift into a cultural ambassador.
According to a survey by the Provincial Office for Coordinating the New Rural Development Program, currently, not only Le Gia but hundreds of OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses in the province are busily researching and connecting to create diverse gift sets to meet the needs and tastes of consumers and the market. These are gifts of memories, of family affection, carrying the salty taste of the sea, the breath of the earth and sky, and the hope for a new spring of prosperity and good fortune.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the year-end season, choosing a Thanh Hoa OCOP (One Commune One Product) gift for Tet (Lunar New Year) is not simply about giving a local specialty, but about conveying a whole realm of memories and pride in each region. Each product tells a story, each flavor a token of gratitude from the land and people who produced it. And so, no matter where you are, just touching these gifts evokes the feeling of Tet approaching, the presence of your homeland in every home, warming your heart with the pure and enduring love of your hometown.
