According to Netblocks, an organization that monitors internet and social media access, the Instagram app has been banned in Türkiye due to controversies related to the Hamas movement on the platform.

Last Friday, on social media platform X, the national head of information and communications, Fahrettin Altun, posted an accusation that Instagram was actively blocking users from posting condolences to Ismail Haniyeh, the recently assassinated Hamas leader.
Although Turkish authorities have not yet given a specific reason for imposing the ban, it appears to be related to the aforementioned allegations.
Meta has not yet issued an official comment on the ban.
This isn't the first time a ban has been imposed on a social media app in Türkiye. In 2014, YouTube and Twitter were blocked, and more recently, last year, following an earthquake that killed thousands, Twitter was also briefly blocked.
