On the afternoon of July 19, MU accepted the loan offer with the option to buy Marcus Rashford. The two sides basically agreed, before going into details about the salary and payment terms in case of a permanent purchase. Barca also planned a medical examination next week.
Rashford made public his intention to leave MU in the middle of last season, ending a 20-year association with the Manchester club, which began when he was 7 years old. Debuting in February 2016, Rashford has gone through 8 full seasons and two other halves, playing 426 games and scoring 138 goals for the Red Devils.
Since early January 2025, Rashford has been keen on a move to Barca, and has also been linked with a move to the club, with sporting director Deco interested. However, no deal has materialised. Instead, he went on loan to Aston Villa, scoring four goals in 17 appearances.

In June, Rashford's brother Dwaine Maynard was in the Catalan city for talks with Barca. Manager Hansi Flick was desperate to add a winger to his squad, completing a front three that already included Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. Barca initially thought they would sign Nico Williams and agree personal terms, but the Spain international decided to stay in Bilbao, even extending his contract until 2035.
Barca turned to Luis Diaz, but Liverpool rejected the offer. The Catalans did not want to spend more than 60 million euros and decided to abandon the deal. So the idea of borrowing Rashford became attractive, especially suitable for Barca's financial situation.
There is no information yet on Rashford's wages from the loan deal. He is one of United's highest-paid players on more than £325,000 a week. Villa paid three-quarters of his wages in the second half of last season, along with performance-based bonuses.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has had a talk with coach Flick to understand what he wants from him. He will soon arrive in Barcelona and prepare for the Asian tour starting on Thursday (July 24).
