Video : Orange season in Van Du.

Van Du is a newly formed commune formed by the merger of Van Du, Thanh Cong, and Thanh Tan towns (Thach Thanh district) - an area with a long tradition of fruit cultivation, especially oranges. Image: Van Du High-Tech Agricultural Zone.

The entire Van Du commune currently has over 250 hectares of citrus trees, of which more than 100 hectares are in the high-tech agricultural production area, including large farms such as Chung Thuy Farm, Huy Que Farm, Hung Hai Farm, etc.

From October to December is the harvest season for Vinh Long Vang oranges. Compared to previous years, this year's orange harvest has seen better quality, especially in areas where standardized cultivation practices are applied.

Cam Van Du has a mild, sweet taste. On average, each Cam Van Du orange tree yields 150 kg/tree.

On large farms, harvesting is organized systematically, involving group work, picking by rows, on-site sorting, and packaging according to standards on the same day. During peak season, each farm can employ 60-80 seasonal workers, providing stable employment for local residents with an income of 5-7 million VND per month.

Currently, the price of Vinh Long Vang oranges at farms in the Van Du high-tech agricultural zone ranges from 20,000 to 25,000 VND/kg.

Traders come directly to the farms to buy, sort, and transport oranges for trade within and outside the province.

Compared to Vinh Long Vang oranges, Duong Canh oranges are harvested later, from the end of December until the Lunar New Year.

On sun-drenched hillsides, each sweet orange is carefully nurtured, representing not only the fruit of a season's care but also the sweet berries of a new direction – a direction of high-tech, sustainable, and promising agriculture.
