The film "Red Rain" (script by writer Chu Lai, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen) is 124 minutes long. "Red Rain" - the biggest film project in the past 10 years of the People's Army Cinema has realistically recreated the fierce battle of our army and people during 81 days and nights to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.

A large number of Ha Tinh audiences lined up to buy tickets and arrived early at the CGV Vincom Ha Tinh cinema before the early screening on the evening of August 21.

The film opens with a train carrying soldiers to the battlefield, seen off by their loved ones. They leave with the mindset of doing their best for the South, unifying the country, carrying with them many memories, worries and hopes for their homeland.

Those soldiers were only eighteen or twenty years old, coming from different classes, students, farmers, electricians... They were also from all three regions: North - Central - South, as the Squad Leader of Squad 1 named Ta told his comrades: "So our whole country is going to war". In the first moment of entering the battlefield, they immediately faced the fierceness of the enemy's bombs and bullets with bombs and bullets on the Thach Han River...

But through the moments of confusion, the young soldiers rushed into battle. Not only did they see bombs, bullets, and the enemy’s belligerence, they were also warned in the most direct way from their commander: Once they entered the Citadel, they were determined to sacrifice themselves. In that battle, hundreds of comrades fell every day, but the remaining ones were still steadfast, close to life and death, and through rain, cold, hunger… they were still determined to fight until their last breath.

Parallel to the story of the brave young soldiers fighting for every inch of land with the enemy is the story at the Paris Conference negotiation table between representatives of the parties, making the story more dramatic and meaningful.

Veteran Ha Van Kham (Thanh Sen ward) expressed: “I was a soldier who participated in many battles during the resistance war against the US. Watching the movie “Red Rain”, I felt moved as if I saw myself and my comrades fighting in each battle in the past. The movie has realistically recreated the fierce fighting of our army and people at that time. I am proud but also miss my fallen comrades.”

Traveling nearly 20 km from Cam Hung commune to watch the first screening of the film “Red Rain” with her children and grandchildren on the evening of August 21, Ms. Hoang Thi Thao (86 years old) was moved: “I am happy to see my children and grandchildren watching the film and crying. I tell my children and grandchildren: our country has never surrendered to the enemy, no matter how strong the enemy is, no matter how much sacrifice we have to make, our grandparents, fathers and uncles are still ready to stand up and fight until their last breath. To have the life we have today, we must always be grateful to the heroic martyrs, the soldiers who took up arms to protect the Fatherland.”

Films about the Vietnam War in recent times have been a controversial genre as they have not lived up to expectations regarding the authenticity of the battle scenes, including the story in the film... However, "Red Rain" has far exceeded the initial expectations of many people.

The movie "Red Rain" is invested elaborately in terms of setting and human resources.

Mr. Nguyen Hoanh Hai Trieu (Ha Huy Tap ward) shared: “The story is interesting, the characters, although many, have their own stories, clear personalities, and engaging details. In particular, the film's elaborate set-up, from wide-angle battle scenes to hand-to-hand combat scenes using martial arts... everything is very realistic and pleasing to the eye. The effects of explosions and guns are also much better than recent Vietnamese films with the same theme. All of these have helped the film become attractive to young people like me and aroused in me a strong sense of national pride.”

Besides the direct fighting story of soldiers on the battlefield, “Red Rain” also has a pure, simple but passionate love story between a soldier and a ferry girl on the Thach Han River.

The roles are all realistic, clarifying the character's personality and character.

In particular, the plus point of “Red Rain” is also the portrait of the soldiers on the other side of the battle line and their rear (Quang, a general of the Republic of Vietnam). The film has many cinematic metaphors, including the scene where Cuong - a revolutionary soldier and Quang fought hand-to-hand on the 81st day of the war. Both fell down, when Quang realized that the war he represented the other side was meaningless. They died from the bullets of the remnants of the Republic of Vietnam army, in their hands was a checkered scarf torn into a broken S shape. Or the scene at the end of the film when peace came , the two mothers of the two soldiers sat on the same boat, dropping flowers into the river to commemorate their children and the soldiers... Those are dialectical and humane film scenes.

With many elements of content and art, “Red Rain” deserves to be seen in theaters, especially on the occasion of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2). Watching the film will help you see how much sacrifice and hardship the country has today, and how much blood and bones our ancestors have shed for the country’s peace and development.

To serve the audience, in the coming days, we will increase the arrangement and prioritize the full capacity of screenings for “Red Rain”. On average, we will arrange about 20 screenings of “Red Rain” per day to meet the movie-watching needs of the people. Currently, the number of pre-booked tickets to see the movie in the next 4 days at the theater has reached 65-70%.
