According to Times of Israel, Israeli television reported on January 14th that the likelihood of a US attack on Iran has increased significantly in recent days.
Channel 12 reported that Washington's shift toward the possibility of attacking Iran came after US President Donald Trump had a lengthy discussion with his advisers on the matter on January 13. The channel quoted a US source as saying that "because the protests in Iran are still ongoing, it is very likely that Trump will have to do something in the next day or two."

"In recent days, Mr. Trump has been briefed on a number of options, including new attacks on Iran's nuclear program or its ballistic missile program," US media reported.
Another option is an attack on Iran's internal security infrastructure or a cyberattack. "These two options are more likely than targeting Iran's nuclear or missile sites," a US newspaper reported.
The newspaper quoted officials as saying that it could take "at least several more days" before the course of action the Trump administration decides on becomes clear.
Protests in Iran have entered their 17th day. On January 14, the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reported that at least 2,571 people have been killed and more than 18,100 arrested in over two weeks of protests in the Islamic Republic.
