According to the US Department of Defense, the aid package includes ammunition for two Patriot and Raytheon HAWK air defense systems, 105mm and 203mm artillery shells, AeroVironment Puma drones, ammunition for laser-guided rocket systems, and other weapons. training and maintenance support services.
This aid is provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This aid package is expected to be disbursed over the coming months and years to ensure Ukraine's future security needs.
Since February 2, the US has spent tens of billions of dollars in arms aid to Ukraine. It has supplied several advanced weapons to Kiev, including Abrams tanks and Patriot air defense systems. The USAI Foundation allows the administration of US President Joe Biden to buy weapons from the industry, not from the US arsenals. Instead of supplying Ukraine with the weapons it currently needs, the USAI packages will create a medium- and long-term supply for Ukraine.
