Giving wings to dreams
On January 16th, the Youth Union of Hoa Binh Ward Police Station provided support under the "Helping Children Go to School" program to Tran Mai Phuong, a 4th grade student in class 4A2 at An Lu Primary School, with a monthly allowance of 1 million VND, to be maintained until the end of June 2027. Born into a family facing many hardships, Mai Phuong is always well-behaved, polite, and strives to excel in her studies. She was deeply moved by the care and attention from the police officers.
Although the support wasn't large, it helped ease the family's worries and motivated the child to study harder, strive to become a good student, and live up to the trust and affection they have placed in him. At the same time, the Party Committee Office of Hoa Binh Ward sponsored two students, Nguyen Quang Dung and Nguyen Minh Quan, who are from disadvantaged backgrounds in Tay Trai residential area of the ward. Each month, they receive 500,000 VND in cash and 10 kg of rice, contributing to a stable life and helping them feel secure in attending school.
Not only in Hoa Binh ward, but at this time, the "Helping Children Go to School" movement continues to spread to Luu Kiem, Bach Dang, Ha Dong wards... Many students from disadvantaged backgrounds are being supported to excel in their studies. Among them is NNTD, born in 2012, a grade 8 student at Thanh Hong Secondary School (Ha Dong commune).
D.'s family consists of parents who are both factory workers with unstable incomes. Both D. and her older sister suffer from congenital anemia and require monthly blood transfusions. Despite her weak health, D. strives to study hard and maintains an optimistic spirit. As one of two students who received 3 million VND in support from the Thanh Hong Ward Police Youth Union this school year, D. said that this care and encouragement is a great source of strength, giving her more confidence to go to school and not give up in the face of her circumstances.
Also during the run-up to the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Women's Union of Hung Dao Ward connected with and donated 20 gift packages, including cash and goods, totaling 30 million VND, to 20 orphaned children under the Union's care. These simple gifts carried great spiritual significance, helping the children have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet holiday.
According to Pham Thi Minh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Hung Dao Ward, in addition to the support provided, in 2025, the Union organized the "Helping Children Go to School" program, giving gifts to 15 orphaned and disadvantaged students with 1 million VND each, along with notebooks and school supplies. Similarly, in early 2026, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuy Nguyen Ward provided sponsorship gifts to 21 poor students who overcame difficulties.
These movements and acts of support not only help alleviate immediate difficulties but also ignite hope, nurture dreams, and ensure that the journey to school for underprivileged, studious children continues with love and community responsibility.
Maintain and enhance the effectiveness of the models.

In reality, movements such as "Helping Children Go to School," "Godmotherhood," and scholarships for disadvantaged students are increasingly spreading widely in many wards and communes throughout the city. From the police force and the Youth Union to the Women's Union and the Fatherland Front , each organization contributes its share of responsibility, working together to care for the future generation through concrete, humane actions.
These models and approaches need to be sustainably promoted in the future. Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Nhan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuy Nguyen Ward, stated that in 2026, the unit will provide monthly support to two students with particularly difficult circumstances in the area to strengthen social welfare work.
According to Mr. Do Anh Dung, Principal of Tran Hung Dao Secondary School (Luu Kiem Ward), in the 2025-2026 school year, the school received practical attention and support from various organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to care for and assist students in overcoming difficulties.
Specifically, two students received support under the "Helping Children Go to School" program with 1 million VND/month/student, implemented by 204 Concrete and Construction Company Limited and the Youth Union of Luu Kiem Ward Police; the "Rice for Children" program provided 1.4 tons of rice by the Hai Phong Charity Restaurant; Vietcombank donated gifts to 20 students (500,000 VND/student); and Vingroup Group awarded scholarships to four students ranging from 7 to 10 million VND/year/student...
However, the school still has 55 students who are near-poor or from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds. The school is continuing to mobilize support and provide Tet gifts for these students, and hopes to receive further assistance from businesses and philanthropists to help them fulfill their dreams of attending school.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Uong Minh Long, in the 2025-2026 school year, the education sector will continue to effectively implement policies to support learning costs such as: awarding scholarships, providing textbooks, uniforms, and school supplies for students from disadvantaged families, near-poor families, and those facing extreme difficulties. Along with this, there will be joint efforts from all levels, sectors, localities, units, and businesses to ensure these students can confidently continue their education.
To ensure these movements continue to spread, the Department of Education directs schools to strengthen coordination with organizations and residential areas, while diversifying support methods towards long-term goals, harmoniously combining material and spiritual support for near-poor students and those with particularly difficult circumstances, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Along with that, promoting social mobilization and calling for the joint efforts of charitable organizations and individuals is considered an important solution, contributing to expanding resources and giving more students more motivation to excel in their studies and lives.
