According to Globo , Napoli had previously held talks to sign Neymar in May. However, instead of completing the deal with Neymar, the Serie A club ultimately decided to sign Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
This decision raises serious questions about the future of Neymar, who only returned to Santos earlier this year. Brazilian media believe that the former Barcelona star is open to the idea of returning to Europe to play, especially given the considerable criticism he received during his time at Santos.
Neymar's contract with Santos also only runs until December of this year. After nine months since returning to his homeland to play, Neymar has only appeared in 12 matches, scoring 3 goals and frequently suffering injuries.
