In an interview on June 28, the Russian president said that Ukraine had proposed that both sides cease long-range attacks deep into each other's territory. But Putin argued that this proposal was merely a solution to ease pressure on the Ukrainian military.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that this proposal stems from the fact that Russia's counterattacks deep within Ukrainian territory are becoming more effective and destructive. He also noted that, given the severe manpower shortage in the Ukrainian army, Kyiv sees this as a solution to improve the situation, but affirmed that saving the Kyiv government is not Russia's goal.

Russia will maintain tight control over four regions in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow insists that Kiev's attacks will not be able to disperse Russian forces in achieving its core objective of complete control over the Donbas and Novorossiya regions.
In addition, the Russian President reiterated the objective of the Russian military in the Sumy and Vovchansk directions: to establish a border security buffer zone following Ukrainian raids on the Kursk region.
