First day teaching

Currently, students majoring in Early Childhood Education at the Thai Nguyen University branch in Lao Cai are beginning their internships at preschools in the area. In their first few days in the classroom, a mix of excitement and apprehension fills them as they directly care for, guide, and organize activities for children; simultaneously developing patience, responsibility, and fostering a love for the profession.

For over a month now, starting at 7 a.m. every day, Giàng A Thào, a student in the Early Childhood Education program (College Level 23, Faculty of Education), has been present at Vạn Hòa Kindergarten in Lào Cai Ward to help teachers clean the classroom, prepare supplies, welcome children, and participate in daily activities. These tasks are helping Thào gradually become familiar with the role of a kindergarten teacher.

Student Giàng A Thào is doing his teaching internship at a preschool.

As one of the few male students studying Early Childhood Education , Thào chose this path out of a love for children. His experience at school helped him understand the profession better as he directly cared for and taught children under the guidance of teachers.

"Previously, lectures were mainly theoretical, with limited practical training. During my internship, I had direct contact with children and learned from the teachers, so I understood the job better and gained many more skills," Thào shared.

From a shy student, after gaining experience, Thào gradually became more confident in communicating and organizing activities for children.

Like Giàng A Thào, student Vàng Thị Nhung clearly feels the growth that comes from "learning by doing." Applying the knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world situations has helped her gain a deeper understanding of her chosen profession.

"Every day at school is a joyful day. The children here are so lovely, intelligent, and quick-witted. I feel my love for my profession and for children growing stronger every day," Nhung said.

Student Vang Thi Nhung organized outdoor activities for children under the guidance of teachers.

For Nhung, a typical workday involves a continuous stream of tasks such as caring for children and organizing learning and play activities. Each job requires meticulousness, patience, and a high sense of responsibility. After more than a month, she has gradually gained a clear understanding of the unique characteristics of a preschool teacher.

According to Ms. Tang Thi Kim Oanh, Principal of Van Hoa Kindergarten, the school is receiving 45 students from the Thai Nguyen University branch in Lao Cai province this time. The students are assigned to different class groups and directly participate in childcare and education activities under the guidance of experienced teachers.

Ms. Tang Thi Kim Oanh, Principal of Van Hoa Kindergarten, said: "We consider guiding student interns as an important task. From the beginning, the school has developed a plan and assigned teachers to mentor and guide the students in even the smallest tasks."

In reality, internships play a crucial role in helping students improve both their professional knowledge and skills. Through daily tasks, they gradually develop pedagogical skills, enhance their sense of responsibility, and improve their ability to adapt to job requirements.

Lecturer Nguyen Thi Huong Giang, Faculty of Education, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Lao Cai province, commented: Through internships, students learn to apply their knowledge to childcare and education activities; and at the same time develop necessary skills such as communication, coordination with colleagues and parents, and appropriate behavior in a pedagogical environment.

Currently, the Faculty of Education - Thai Nguyen University's branch in Lao Cai province has nearly 400 students majoring in Early Childhood Education, from both college and university levels, undertaking internships at 10 kindergartens in Lao Cai ward, Cam Duong commune and Hop Thanh commune.
