Nghe An: Highlights of April 4th

* On the morning of April 4th, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies - inspected and worked on the progress of key projects in the province.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy and his delegation inspected the progress of the Vinh – Cua Lo connecting road project (phase 2). This road has a total length of 10.832km and passes through three localities: Vinh city, Nghi Loc district, and Cua Lo town.

When completed, this road will become a very important main traffic artery for the expanded city of Vinh in the near future, following the merger of Cua Lo town and four communes of Nghi Loc district: Nghi Xuan, Nghi Phong, Nghi Thai, and Phuc Tho.

The project was allocated a medium-term public investment plan of VND 1,415 billion for the period 2021-2025; of which the total capital allocated to date is VND 1,135 billion, with VND 792 billion disbursed, reaching 70%.

The Provincial Party Secretary and the delegation inspected the progress of the coastal road project from Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) to Cua Lo ( Nghe An ), specifically the section from Km7 to Km76, with a total length of 64.47 km and a total investment of 4,651 billion VND. Construction began in February 2022, with the road being built to the standards of a Class 3 road in a flat area.

* On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, a delegation from the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, led by Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Union, visited and paid tribute to the heroes and martyrs of Dien Bien Phu.

The delegation offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroes and martyrs of Dien Bien Phu; and visited historical sites associated with the Dien Bien Phu Victory such as: the Dien Bien Phu Campaign Command Post; the General De Castries' bunker - where the center of the Dien Bien Phu fortified complex was once located…

On this occasion, the delegation from Nghe An province donated 1 billion VND to Dien Bien province to support the livelihoods of the poor in Dien Bien province.

* As part of the thematic monitoring plan on the implementation of policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety from 2009 to the end of 2023, on the morning of April 4th, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation held a working session with the Provincial Department of Transport and the Provincial Police.

* Mr. Hoang Anh Tien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen District, recently announced that the residents' petition regarding problems arising during the construction of the North-South expressway has been largely resolved.

Previously, residents of Hung Thinh hamlet petitioned for a definitive resolution to two shortcomings arising during the design and construction of the North-South expressway: Firstly, the expressway divided some of the rice paddy land of the people of Hung Thinh hamlet (on the west side) in the Dong Cua production area, but no irrigation canals were designed to supply water for irrigation, leading to a lack of water for the people to cultivate their crops.

The design of the pedestrian underpass, while not connecting to the main road, leads directly into the rice fields, affecting the movement, production, and daily life of the local people, especially in terms of fire prevention and control.

The Department of Education and Training has just announced the structure of the entrance exam for 10th grade at Phan Boi Chau High School and Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The entrance exam for 10th grade this year is scheduled to be held on June 5th and 6th, 2024, with three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language (English or French).

According to this year's exam structure, the exam must include questions at four levels: recognition, comprehension, application, and advanced application. Specifically, recognition and comprehension account for 50-60% of the total score; application and advanced application account for 40-50% of the total score.

* Over the past three days, the weather has been continuously hot and sunny, with temperatures soaring. This extreme weather has caused many children to fall ill, requiring them to seek medical attention and be hospitalized for treatment.

On average, about 1,000 children visit Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for examination each day. Of these, about one-third require hospitalization. Children admitted to the hospital mainly suffer from common illnesses during hot weather such as viral fever, influenza, hand, foot and mouth disease, chickenpox, measles, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, diarrhea, allergic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis.
