Nghe An: Highlights of May 5th

The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued a document on institutionalizing the Party's guidelines and policies on preventing and combating corruption and negative practices into state laws.

* Thanh Chuong District organized 84 polling stations in 16 communes and towns undergoing mergers, with a total of nearly 56,000 voters whose names were finalized for consultation on the plan for rearranging commune-level administrative units, giai đoạn 2023 - 2025 in the district.

* On the morning of May 5th, at the Nghe An Provincial Youth Activities Center in Cua Lo town, the Provincial Youth Council held a ceremony to summarize and award prizes for the "Excellent Star Leader" competition at the provincial level for the 2023-2024 school year.

* At the close of trading in the first week of May 2024, the price of gold bars approached 86 million VND/ounce. The gold market is thriving as people continue to choose gold as a safe investment and savings channel.

* From May 3rd to 5th, storms and strong winds struck Yen Thanh district, causing severe damage to over 100 hectares of rice fields that were nearing harvest. Local authorities are currently mobilizing resources to mitigate the damage.

* The Thanh Nam bridge project in Con Cuong district has completed the bridge section across the Lam River. However, the access road to the bridge is still unfinished due to land clearance issues involving three households and dozens of businesses near Con Cuong market.

* Around 5:00 AM on May 5th, a motorbike and a phone were found left on Ben Thuy 2 Bridge. Suspecting someone had jumped off the bridge to commit suicide, residents notified the authorities.
