Born into a family with a long tradition of Bahnar folk music , Rcom Nay H Srina showed a special talent for traditional musical instruments from an early age. From the age of six, she accompanied her mother, Rcom H'Sơnh (born in 1990), to perform with the traditional musical instrument ensemble of Piơm village in the local area.

During those performances, Srina was captivated by the clear, resonant sound of the T'rưng instrument. "The T'rưng is so beautiful and special; each sound is like the chirping of birds or the flowing of a stream," Srina shared.

At the age of 7, Srina began practicing the T'rưng instrument under her mother's guidance. In the early days, her small hands often swelled up, became sore, and she constantly played out of rhythm. “There were times I wanted to give up, but thanks to my mother's encouragement, I persevered, breaking down the music into smaller sections, practicing them dozens of times, and comparing them to the sounds of professional musicians to adjust the rhythm. The more I played, the more I felt the sound of the instrument was talking to me, making me reluctant to stop,” Srina confided.

In just over a month, Srina gradually mastered the T'rưng instrument. While attending Truong Vinh Ky Primary School (Dak Doa commune), she participated in T'rưng performances at the school. "The first time I stood in front of a large crowd, I was very nervous, my hands kept playing out of rhythm. But when I heard everyone applauding and cheering, I felt happy and wanted to try even harder," Srina recalled.

In the second semester of 5th grade, she received a scholarship to Sao Viet Inter-level School (Pleiku ward). There, Srina joined the T'rưng Club, practicing three times a week under the systematic guidance of teachers. Her skills improved rapidly, and she had the opportunity to perform in many major art programs at the school and the province.

Since 2022, Srina has appeared on major stages such as: the Weekend Gong Festival at Dai Doan Ket Square (Pleiku Ward), the Provincial English Talent Competition, the Gia Lai Gong Culture Festival... Thanks to her efforts, Srina has achieved initial successes: the youngest female artist at the Festival.

Besides playing the T'rưng instrument, Srina also learned to play percussion instruments and pipes, and participated in the Bana traditional instrument ensemble and Xoang dance. Mastering many musical instruments helped her become more confident on stage and contributed to enriching the team's performances.

Sharing her dreams, Srina expressed: “I want to participate in many festivals and cultural events to spread the word about the T'rưng instrument and introduce this traditional Bana musical instrument to friends from all over the world.”

Along with her passion for music, Srina has also achieved many impressive academic accomplishments, especially in English: Outstanding student from grades 1 to 5, Second prize in the provincial English Talent Competition (2023), First prize in the 5th grade online English Olympic competition (2023-2024), Gold medal in the HIPPO 2024 qualifying round, participation in the international round of the CODEAVOUR 6.0 competition in Qatar….

“I enjoy learning English because it’s the key to understanding more about the world. Thanks to English, I can introduce my traditional musical instruments to my international friends,” Srina said.

Sharing about her daughter, Rcom H'Sonh said: “Srina had the opportunity to learn foreign languages from a young age thanks to her family. I am an English teacher, and her maternal grandfather also frequently converses in a foreign language with her. Seeing her becoming more confident, bold, and especially loving both music and learning, I am truly very happy.”
