These days, krill are appearing in abundance, washed ashore by the waves in the coastal waters. Taking advantage of the favorable weather, fishermen set out to sea early in the morning and return in the late afternoon. Some boats make 2-3 trips a day, bringing in 3-5 quintals of krill.
Mr. Ngo Van Hiep, from Tan Hai village, Ninh Chau commune, said: "Some days my family harvests nearly 400 kg of shrimp paste. This year's shrimp paste season has yielded high production and there has been plenty of sunshine, making drying convenient."

After being harvested from the sea, krill are transported ashore to be sold fresh or dried. Depending on size and freshness, fresh krill are purchased by traders at the dock for 10,000 to 12,000 VND/kg; dried krill fetches around 160,000 VND/kg.
According to experienced fishermen, krill appear near the shore, moving in waves, creating easily recognizable red currents. Hundreds of fishermen rely on this experience to earn a significant income each season.
Mr. Hoang Van Tan, from Tan Hai village, Ninh Chau commune, further shared: "Having been involved with the sea for so many years, every time the shrimp come in like this, the fishermen have to try their best to harvest them, because the shrimp only come in large quantities for a few days before the peak season ends."

Ms. Hoang Thi Luyen, Party Secretary and Head of Tan Hai village, Ninh Chau commune, said: "The fishermen are very excited. The arrival of shrimp at the beginning of the year is considered a stroke of luck, bringing joy and enthusiasm, allowing fishermen to feel secure in their livelihood and remain committed to their profession."

This year's shrimp season not only brings boats overflowing with catch but also carries hope. For fishermen in the coastal areas, a bountiful shrimp harvest in the early days of the year is like a blessing from heaven, giving them renewed motivation to continue fishing and preserve their traditional livelihood.
