Highly appreciating the achievements that Captain Tran Dinh Nguyen has made in recent times, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Chi Luyen, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Hue City Border Guard, respectfully said that these are the results of the process of training political mettle and constant efforts to fulfill well the "two roles" of a young border guard officer.
Born and raised in the mountainous province of Lao Cai , after graduating from the Border Guard Academy, Tran Dinh Nguyen was assigned as the Reconnaissance Team Leader at Lang Co Border Guard Station, a unit on the coastal border of Hue city. For Nguyen, the task of patrolling at sea was a challenge. "We have learned the knowledge, professional skills, and skills related to coastal border work, but we have never experienced it in practice, so we were surprised and worried" - Captain Nguyen recalled.
Patrolling at sea to prevent and combat crimes and illegal fishing (IUU fishing) is one of the important tasks of the Border Guard force. When performing tasks in stormy conditions, especially at night, one has to face many difficulties, hardships and dangers. The young border guard officer always keeps in mind that he must strive to train himself many times more, to join hands with the unit to complete the task well.
Right from the beginning, when the Party Committee and the Unit Command arranged for him to participate in regular, periodic patrols during the day, in normal weather, to gradually get used to the waves and winds, Captain Nguyen continuously learned from his teammates, "fought" and conquered himself, controlled the nausea caused by sudden big waves, and stood firm against strong shaking that could knock him off his feet.
Lieutenant Colonel A Lieng Ha, Political Commissar of Lang Co Border Guard Station, highly appreciated the perseverance and steadfast will of the young border guard officer. Captain Nguyen has honed his skills, experienced the storms, and has the courage to face resistance and aggression, working side by side with his teammates to successfully complete the task of patrolling at sea at night; arresting violating ships, illegally operating trawling, protecting aquatic resources, and restoring peace to fishing villages.
When talking about dangerous situations (possibly falling into the sea, being caught between two ships... when approaching, jumping onto a violating ship), instead of worrying about his health and life, the first thing Captain Nguyen thought of was the fear of affecting the entire process of capturing the subject of the group, affecting the common mission.
The commander and his teammates acknowledged Captain Nguyen's sense of responsibility and effective contributions in carrying out his duties. From a team member, Captain Nguyen was entrusted with the task of being the deputy team leader of the patrol team. He and his teammates mobilized fishermen in particular and local people to join hands to protect fishing grounds, fight against crimes and illegal activities at sea.
“In performing his duties and tasks, Captain Tran Dinh Nguyen always has a high sense of responsibility, advising the Party Committee and the unit's Command to propose many policies and measures for close leadership; managing the reconnaissance team to complete all assigned tasks well, contributing to the management and protection of territorial sovereignty , maintaining national border security in all situations. In the work of fighting and preventing crimes, Captain Nguyen has advised the unit's Command to develop patrol and ambush plans and participate in coordinating with the force to arrest and handle violators of social order and safety, being an example for the youth of the unit's Border Guard and the Hue City Border Guard" - Lieutenant Colonel A Lieng Ha said.
