On March 11th, musician Le Quoc Hung announced that his older brother, musician Le Quoc Dung, had passed away at his home at 0:32 AM that same day. He departed this world after a period of treatment for lung cancer, at the age of 61.
The coffin of musician Le Quoc Dung is laid in state at his private residence on Nguyen Canh Chan Street, Cau Kho Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The wake began at 10:00 AM on March 11th, and at 4:30 PM on March 13th, his remains were taken for cremation at Da Phuoc Cemetery (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).
Composer Le Quoc Dung passed away in the early morning of March 11th.
In mid-February 2022, Le Quoc Hung stated that his brother's health was quite poor. He had been battling lung cancer for many years, and the disease had now metastasized to his throat, making conversation difficult. The musician also suffered from diabetes, causing his physical condition to deteriorate rapidly and leading to weight loss.
The composer of the song "Gánh hàng rong" (Street Vendor's Cart) was treated at the Oncology Hospital, but recently the doctors discharged him due to his extremely weak health. During the time composer Lê Quốc Dũng was undergoing treatment, his younger brother took care of him daily.
Upon hearing the news of musician Le Quoc Dung's passing, singer Quach Tuan Du was taken aback. Not long ago, he and artist Bach Lan had visited their senior colleague. The singer had planned to return to buy some gifts and medicine for Le Quoc Dung, but he didn't have time.
"He's gone. Quách Tuấn Du used to sing his song 'Gánh hàng rong' (Street Vendor's Burden). It's so sad to see another artist pass away. My deepest condolences to his family," Quách Tuấn Du expressed.
Director Xuan Phuoc, who collaborated with Le Quoc Dung on the television series "Bong Bien" (2000), posted the theme song on his personal page, along with the message: "Now it's just a memory. My friend has passed away, may you rest in peace in a faraway place, Dung."
Composer Le Quoc Dung was born in 1951 into a family with a musical tradition. His passion for music stemmed from his early days learning from his father as a student. Later, he became a musician and began composing.
Le Quoc Dung began writing music at the age of 17 or 18 with his first song, "Spring Sunshine". In 2000, director Xuan Phuoc invited him to write music for the television series "Sea Shadow".
Later, he gained attention with the song "Schoolgirl" in the television series of the same name, adapted from a story by Nguyen Nhat Anh, which aired in 2008.
He is the author of many famous songs such as: "Street Vendor's Burden", "Sea Shadow", "Spring Kiss", "Frozen Love", "Wonderful to Have You", "Random Thoughts", "Even Though Love Is Gone", "Spring Sunshine"...
Among them, "Gánh hàng rong" (The Street Vendor's Burden) is his famous song, recorded by many singers such as Phuong Thanh, Minh Tuyet, Nhat Tinh Anh...
