Recorded in many localities today, sources are low, new buying and selling transactions are slow. In Dong Thap , buying and selling transactions are absent in the 3-crop fields, rice prices are stable. In An Giang, sources are available in Chau Thanh - Thoai Son, new rice transactions are slow, rice prices are stable.

In Soc Trang, farmers are offering steady prices, traders are paying low prices, and new transactions are slow. In Long An, prices are showing a slight downward trend, and new transactions are slow.

Regarding rice, prices of raw rice and finished rice products were relatively stable during the week. As for some exported rice products, prices increased slightly in the middle of the week, then remained stable and stabilized at the end of the week.

For by-products, the price of by-products fluctuates from 7,300 - 10,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran fluctuates at 7,100 - 7,300 VND/kg; rice bran 2 fluctuates at 6,800 - 6,900 VND/kg; the price of bran fluctuates at 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg compared to the weekend.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today are stable compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 391 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 365 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 307 USD/ton.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in February 2025, Vietnam exported about 560,000 tons of rice with a value of 288.2 million USD. Thereby, bringing the total volume and value of rice exports in the first two months of 2025 to 1.1 million tons and 613 million USD, up 5.9% in volume, but down 13.6% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

In mid-March, rice export prices continued to fall sharply, to only: 307-365 USD per ton. Major markets such as the Philippines, Ivory Coast and Ghana are still the main customers of Vietnamese rice. Compared to the same period last year, the value of rice exports in January 2025 to the Philippines market decreased by 35.5%, while the Ivory Coast market increased by 8.6 times, and the Ghana market increased by 4.1 times.

Agricultural experts believe that the world rice market has just gone through a period of slow trading compared to the annual cycle. The reversal of domestic rice prices and export rice prices from the end of 2024 is considered to be due to oversupply in the market.

To improve capacity and export value, the domestic rice industry needs to organize production well, ensure rice quality, maintain orders and maintain export markets. At the same time, the rice industry needs to proactively develop export plans in accordance with fluctuating market conditions.

In addition, domestic enterprises need to proactively diversify markets, increase rice exports to new markets such as Europe, the US, Japan, the Middle East, West Asia, Africa, etc. At the same time, take advantage of free trade agreements to enjoy tariff incentives and conquer and increase rice exports to new markets.
