On March 26.3, news from Ca Mau General Hospital (Ca Mau) said that the unit had just received and successfully removed a foreign object, a dildo, from the rectum and anus of a male patient.
Previously, on March 24.3, patient LKV (23 years old, Bien Bach Dong commune, Thoi Binh district) was taken by relatives to Ca Mau General Hospital with sharp pain in the anal area.
Taking medical history, doctors at the hospital noted that patient V. had previously used a dildo to insert it into his anus and then could not take it out.
After the examination, the doctor's team prescribed spinal anesthesia and successfully used tools to remove foreign objects from the patient.
According to Dr. Tran Van Phuol, Department of General Surgery, Ca Mau General Hospital, patients hospitalized with bodies containing foreign objects are not rare cases. Anal-rectal foreign bodies, if not treated promptly, can lead to the risk of intestinal obstruction, even life-threatening.
Doctors recommend not using any instruments inserted into the anal area. When there is a foreign object in the anus, absolutely do not use forceps or insert your hand to remove it yourself. These movements not only fail to remove the foreign object but also increase the risk of pushing the foreign object deeper, causing damage to the rectum. Ideally, patients need to quickly go to medical facilities to receive timely support from a specialist doctor.
