We often talk about the dream of "four-season tourism " in the beautiful coastal city of Sam Son. But if we try a slightly different perspective, we will be surprised to realize that this coastal region has already defined itself with its four seasons through its own unique beauty and characteristics. The important thing is whether we have the heart, vision, and strength to unlock its potential and advantages, thereby unleashing the power of the sea within the cyclical nature of the four seasons?
The Doc Cuoc Temple on a spring morning! This sacred temple, located on Co Giai Island, part of the Truong Le mountain range, has protected the land and people of this region for generations. From the temple's location, one can gaze upon a vast coastal urban area that possesses both unique historical and cultural values and a vibrant, dynamic energy, rapidly evolving and transforming every day.
In 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the socio -economic picture of Sam Son City stood out with bright colors. The city completed and exceeded 29 out of 29 key targets, with many achieving outstanding results and ranking among the top in the province. Specifically, the growth rate of production value reached 12.3%; total production value was estimated at 24,515 billion VND; per capita income reached 77.5 million VND... State budget revenue reached 2,179 billion VND, ranking third in the province and the highest level ever. Land clearance and disbursement of public investment capital continued to exceed the provincial plan. Grassroots culture saw positive changes. The city successfully organized many cultural, sports, and festival events. The quality of healthcare and social welfare services improved, and people's lives continued to improve...
Within that socio-economic landscape, Sam Son tourism continues to affirm its leading position in the province, as an attractive, friendly, and safe destination for tourists. In 2024, Sam Son tourism welcomed 8.86 million visitors, equivalent to 109.3% compared to the same period and 104.3% of the plan. Total revenue from tourism reached 17.1 trillion VND, equivalent to 140.6% compared to the same period and 108.8% of the plan, exceeding the set target.
Infrastructure, technology, and new tourism products continue to be invested in and developed in a synchronized, diverse, and attractive manner. The accommodation system continues to be renovated and upgraded to meet the needs of tourists. To date, Sam Son City has 1,024 accommodation establishments, including 92 tourist accommodation establishments rated from 1 to 5 stars; a total of 23,347 guest rooms meet the criteria of "bright - clean - beautiful".
The city has prepared and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for approval the revised General Planning for the construction of Sam Son City until 2040; coordinated the implementation of the preparation of sub-area plans according to regulations; approved and approved adjustments to detailed 1/500 scale planning projects... creating an important foundation for managing, attracting investment, and developing Sam Son urban area in a sustainable, civilized, and modern direction. In 2024, many projects were completed and put into operation, such as: the Dong Son Boulevard pedestrian street; the memorial area for compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and students from the South who relocated to the North; the Sea Square project, the festival landscape axis, the Sea Square urban area, Sun World Water Park... These projects have contributed to fundamentally changing the urban landscape, creating highlights in architectural and landscape space, and generating new tourism products. The city has effectively exploited the tourism potential of the Do River, Ma River, Truong Le Mountain, and the sea to increase its attractiveness and attract domestic and international tourists, gradually overcoming the seasonality of Sam Son tourism.
With the goal of building Sam Son into a "City of Festivals," in the past year, many cultural, sports, tourism, and festival programs and events have taken place, attracting a large number of tourists, such as: the opening of the 2024 Sea Tourism Festival and the inauguration of the Sea Square and the festival landscape axis of Sam Son City; the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of welcoming compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and students from the South who relocated to the North and the inauguration of the memorial area; the coordinated implementation of live television programs "Faith and Aspiration," "Relocating to the North - Deep Affection and Loyalty"; the Cau Phuc festival at Doc Cuoc Temple; the Banh Chung - Banh Giay festival; the 2nd Traditional and Folk Art Festival... All cultural and social activities aim to build a beautiful image of Sam Son's land and people in the hearts of friends and tourists; gradually building the mindset and position of the people of Sam Son, especially the younger generation.
Along with that, Sam Son City focuses on building a smart, attractive, and friendly tourist city, a safe destination for tourists, resolutely handling violations in service and tourism activities, and gradually creating a sustainable transformation for the tourism environment. Sam Son identifies the enhancement of civilized tourism behavior as the responsibility of the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, departments, organizations, each household, each residential area, individuals, tourism businesses, and the entire society.
The sea has always sung its song of unwavering loyalty. In the current period, in order to elevate and enhance the position of Sam Son as a key tourist city of the province, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU dated November 26, 2021, on the construction and development of Sam Son City until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Specifically, the goal by 2030 is to build and develop Sam Son into a national key tourist city, an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists...; striving to become a smart, modern, attractive, and friendly coastal tourist city by 2030. The vision for 2045 is for Sam Son to be a leading unique tourist, entertainment, and recreation city in the country; closely connected with Thanh Hoa City in terms of urban space, economic development, tourism, and services. Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU reflects the concern, trust, and expectations of the Provincial Party Standing Committee regarding the development of Sam Son.
The year 2025 is of particular importance, being the final year that will determine the results of implementing the Resolution of the 17th Party Congress of Sam Son City, term 2020-2025, and the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025; it is also the year for organizing party congresses at all levels, consolidating new development foundations to implement the socio-economic development plan for the 2026-2030 period. Leveraging its potential and advantages, especially its natural endowments, Sam Son City will continue to accelerate and strive to achieve all targets and indicators by 2025; focusing on resolving difficulties and obstacles in implementing socio-economic development tasks, creating significant changes in all fields.
Sam Son has weathered the summer with its fiery passion; transitioned to a gentle, serene autumn; and in winter, the city exudes a romantic charm. And when spring arrives, the city bursts with renewed vitality, enthusiastically embarking on plans and goals for growth and development, aiming to become a smart, modern, attractive, and friendly coastal tourist city, a key national tourism hub, an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists, and a crucial driving force contributing to making Thanh Hoa province a new growth pole in the North of Vietnam.
