The footprints of poetry still wander.

Poet Tran Kim Dung has passed the age of eighty. Yet, meeting her in person or reading her poetry, one sees no sign of aging hindering her joy in experiencing life.

She continues to travel, write, and reunite with friends in warm and friendly gatherings. After three poetry collections, *The Sky Under the River*, *Myriad Sorrows Near and Far*, and *Footprints of Poetry*, she continues to release another collection, *Footprints of Poetry Still Wandering* (published by the Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House).

The wandering footsteps of poetry are a tender story told in the gentle voice of a woman who has traveled to different lands and eagerly recorded her personal feelings. Her words are sincere and gentle as she asks: "Who can stop the footsteps of a spiritual seeker / Ascending to the lofty meditative realm of the White Cloud Peak?" Buddhism is the Way, optimism is the Way, and poetry is also the Way. Therefore, the hearts of fellow practitioners are moved by the lines: "Here hangs a temple on a cliff / Half hidden in a deep cave, half covered in clouds."

The poetic footprints still wander, mentioning many places, but the beauty of the homeland is not something that captivates outsiders. In Tran Kim Dung's poetry, it is moments of contemplation: " Here is My Chau's hermitage, sitting silently alone / The stone statue holds so much injustice / The goose feather will forever remember / The life lesson will be passed down to future generations." It is a moment of nostalgia: "The sturdy laterite stone walls / So many old stories hidden within / The earthenware jars of fermented soybean paste, their secrets unspoken / The sweet fragrance of the village for centuries." And also a moment of peace: "Through days of war and fire / The sacred tower remains awake, the lake remains green."

Reading Tran Kim Dung's poetry, it's not difficult to discover a soul easily moved by shifts, changes, and transformations. She records the rapid urbanization of Ho Chi Minh City through a lingering sense of uncertainty between the past and the present, between simplicity and civilization, between quietude and bustling activity. The memory of the Thu Thiem ferry, once a source of folk songs, is depicted with a distant nostalgia: " I ask the coconut groves of yesteryear / Where are the ferry landings, through sun and rain, now? / And now towering skyscrapers reach the sky / Roads branching off in countless directions, a surging tide of people."

No one can stop the footsteps of the poet, a longing for the sunbeams that have followed, the canopies of trees that have sheltered, the ups and downs that have faded away. Poetry accompanies and comforts, allowing the poet's footsteps to rhythmically follow the footsteps of poetry in an endless haven: " Autumn is engrossed in searching for golden leaves / White chrysanthemums bloom endlessly in the fields / Last night the north wind filled the lanes / Chirping greetings as winter arrives."
