When gender equality is no longer just a slogan.
In the current process of national construction and defense, Vietnamese women are increasingly developing in all aspects, affirming their role and position, and making significant contributions in many fields.

Women constitute a massive workforce and are a crucial driving force for national growth and development. With women accounting for 63% of the workforce, it can be said that women today are present in all sectors, especially in education , healthcare, and services. Notably, the percentage of businesses owned by women has increased significantly in recent years (accounting for approximately 20%), and 51% of Vietnamese businesses have women in their ownership structure, much higher than in many other countries.
At the same time, women are increasingly asserting their role and position in political life and in leading and governing the country. The percentage of female delegates in the 15th National Assembly reached 30.26% (an increase from 26.7% in the 14th National Assembly), which is high compared to other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The role of female leaders and managers in Party and State agencies is increasingly enhanced both in quantity and quality.
Furthermore, women are also at the forefront of scientific and technological research and innovation. In the field of science and technology, the number of female intellectuals is growing, with many achieving success both domestically and internationally, and receiving prestigious awards from around the world. Between 2019 and 2024, 601 female professors and associate professors were recognized, accounting for 21.5% of the total number of scientists. While this number is not yet perfectly balanced, the growth trend shows that gender barriers are gradually being broken down.
In particular, in the business sector, the percentage of businesses owned by women has increased to around 20% in recent years, and 51% of Vietnamese businesses have women in their ownership structure – much higher than in other countries.

Women are the keepers of the family flame and the core of spreading the nation's positive values. They not only manage the household, care for and nurture children, but also preserve and safeguard the essence of traditional culture; cultivate and spread compassion, share love, build good moral values, and create a strong foundation for society.
Speaking at the first "Dynamic, Creative, and Responsible Female Trade Union Member" award ceremony and the commendation of the "Excellent in National Service, Competent in Family Responsibilities" emulation movement for the period 2020-2025 in October 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized: Our country is entering an era of striving for strength, prosperity, civilization, and happiness with the aspiration to build a powerful and prosperous nation towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation. This great mission requires greater unity and determination than ever before, and in this, the role and potential of women must be liberated and maximized. Therefore, Party committees, governments, ministries, and sectors must consider women's affairs and gender equality as a central and continuous political task.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it is necessary to resolutely eliminate all barriers and gender stereotypes, ensuring a truly equal environment. The legal framework must be further improved to better protect the legitimate rights of female workers, especially in the informal sector. At the same time, there must be a decisive and effective fight against domestic violence and sexual harassment; active participation in preventing and combating human trafficking and building effective support mechanisms for victims.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the need to focus investment resources on definitively resolving fundamental social issues for workers, especially the strong development of social housing and the construction of a network of high-quality nurseries and kindergartens in industrial zones. These are key solutions to enable women to confidently contribute to society.
Outstanding women of the capital city

The directives and requirements of the Deputy Prime Minister are being realized every day throughout Hanoi through the stories of each exemplary woman of the capital in 2025. The title of "Exemplary Woman of Hanoi" is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the construction and development of the capital and the advancement of women in Hanoi.
At Canon Vietnam, Head of Administration Le Thi Hong Nhung is responsible for coordinating essential services for over 9,000 employees. Her four initiatives have saved the company over 3.4 billion VND. But those numbers don't tell the whole story. It was her business trips to remote areas, witnessing children in mountainous regions lacking both food and education, that motivated her to initiate charitable projects such as "Fund for Nurturing Children - Joyful to School," "Lighting Up the Highlands," and "Bicycles Carrying the Future."

To this day, the story of boxer Ha Thi Linh, a 12-year-old Tay ethnic girl from Lao Cai who left her hometown to pursue her passion, continues to touch the hearts of sports fans. She has inspired pride in the qualities of Vietnamese women: resilience, perseverance, love, and unwavering determination in all circumstances.
After more than 16 years in the ring, even as a mother of two, Linh has achieved great heights: a gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games, a silver medal at the 2024 Asian Championships, a bronze medal at the 2025 World Championships, and her first-ever Olympic qualification. Linh's story is proof of breaking down double stereotypes – being a woman in a martial art "for men," and being a member of an ethnic minority rising from a difficult mountainous region. More importantly, it proves that motherhood is not a barrier to one's career.
Within the police force, Lieutenant Colonel Bach Thi Kim Dung, Head of the Internal Security Department of the Hanoi City Police, has participated in 8 major cases combating activities aimed at undermining national security, and directed hundreds of intelligence plans. Her quiet achievements have been recognized with a Certificate of Commendation from the Prime Minister and numerous other commendations from the Ministry of Public Security.
Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Kim Nu Hieu, former Deputy Director of the Central Military Hospital 108, has just been honored as an Outstanding Citizen of Hanoi in 2025. She is a prime example of the "Three Responsibilities" movement of the past, volunteering to go to the battlefield even while pregnant. Now over 80 years old, she remains passionately involved in community activities, supporting victims of Agent Orange, and assisting women and children in border regions.

For Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Kim Nu Hieu, the journey of philanthropy doesn't stop at giving material gifts. She also cherishes a deeper desire: to sow the "seeds" of knowledge and nurture the dreams of the younger generation in border regions. The life and career of Colonel, Associate Professor, Doctor, and People's Physician Nguyen Kim Nu Hieu is a prime example of a soldier of Uncle Ho – an intelligent, courageous, and compassionate military doctor who lives and works wholeheartedly for the Fatherland and the people.
Ms. Hieu's presence alongside women like Ms. Nhung, Ms. Linh, and Ms. Dung at the 2025 ceremony honoring outstanding women of Hanoi creates a multi-generational picture. From women who volunteered to fight on the battlefield in the past, to those running businesses, competing on the international stage, and protecting the security of the capital, the tradition of "Heroic, Indomitable, Loyal, and Capable" of Vietnamese women is being inherited and promoted.
From statistics on the percentage of female workers, the number of businesses owned by women, the percentage of female National Assembly representatives, to specific stories of women managing thousands of workers, martial artists rising from the highlands, and female police officers with silent achievements... - all show that gender equality is no longer a slogan but is becoming a reality.
As Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh pointed out, in order for women's potential to be fully unleashed and developed in the new era, greater determination is needed to eliminate barriers and gender stereotypes, improve the legal framework, and address fundamental social issues. Only then will the success stories of exemplary women in Hanoi no longer be exceptional but become commonplace – when every woman has the opportunity to shine and contribute, helping to build Hanoi into a globally connected, elegant, harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous city.
