In his opening remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Chu Van Tuan, Director of the Institute for Religious Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), stated that the importance of sustainable development in land border regions is crucial in the context of globalization and emerging security, social, and economic challenges.

Border regions are not only centers of economic trade but also points of cultural and social exchange between countries, requiring sustainable and harmonious development policies.

Protecting human security and ensuring the rights of ethnic minority communities in border areas is a key task in building a just, stable, and developed society.

International cooperation, especially with neighboring countries, needs to be strengthened to address common issues such as transnational crime, climate change, and social unrest.

Associate Professor, Dr. Chu Van Tuan, Director of the Institute for Religious Studies, delivered the opening remarks at the conference.

At the workshop, delegates focused on proposing specific solutions, including: ethnic policies to ensure the comprehensive development of ethnic minority communities; human security in the Vietnam-Cambodia border region, especially in the context of new challenges to security and cross-border crime.

Proposed solutions include strengthening border management, developing policies to support sustainable development for local communities, and ensuring security and order through close cooperation between countries.

Researcher Linh Giang from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences shared insights into labor and employment issues based on practical experiences in border provinces over the past 10 years. Despite achieving many positive results, particularly in shifting labor from agriculture, forestry, and fisheries to industry, construction, and services, the quality of the workforce remains low, vocational training is weak, and unemployment rates are high, especially among young people; the labor shift process has not yet met market demands.

The proposal suggests reducing the natural population growth rate, shifting jobs from informal to formal, improving the quality of the workforce, and paying particular attention to vocational training.

According to Master Kim Thanh San, in the context of globalization, cross-border fraud activities via cyberspace are increasing, rendering traditional borders insufficient to protect citizens from online scams. This poses a major challenge to sustainable development, requiring close cooperation between countries to address the issue...
