The fateful night of 8 girls who forgot to close the window

VnExpress quoted QQ, 163, and Zhihu newspapers as saying that the case of eight girls murdered in an apartment building was the most horrific tragedy in Beijing, China in 1999 and was solved in just one week.

At around 4am on May 30, 1999, Beijing police received a report of a murder on the second floor of an apartment building in Shijingshan District. The scene left even seasoned policemen in a state of disbelief as seven girls were murdered in their room, one collapsed next to a car parked in front of the building. The oldest was 24 years old, the youngest was 17, all had suffered more than a hundred stab wounds.

The eight victims were employees of a Fujian-based handicraft company who rented a house in Shijingshan District in western Beijing that served as both an office and a dormitory. They worked at a jewelry counter in a shopping mall. One of them had arrived in Beijing the day before the incident.

Because of the large number of victims, the large crime scene, and the blood stains in many places, the police had to thoroughly investigate the crime scene more than 10 times. Finally, they discovered that there was blood from another person besides the 8 victims at the scene. Combined with the detail that the 8 girls were murdered with the same knife, the police determined that the perpetrator was alone and had been injured during the crime.

The perpetrator was later identified as Trieu Lien Vinh, who lived right next to the scene.

Vinh said he always felt lonely, that no one understood him, and that he could not raise his head because of poverty. His dissatisfaction with life and desire for money accumulated, leading to negative thoughts in Vinh's mind.

World famous crimes - 1

In late summer 1998, Vinh saw eight young women renting a three-bedroom apartment next to his house. Every time he passed by, Vinh politely nodded to greet his neighbors. Although he had never spoken to them directly, Vinh secretly asked them all about them. He knew they were in the jewelry and gem business in a large shopping mall, and they dressed up and wore makeup every day.

Vinh's apartment's southeast bedroom window faced the girls' dormitory balcony, just a step away, and he could peek out and see what they were doing. He often peeked at their movements every day, and discovered that the neighbor's balcony window was always open, even at night to catch the wind when it was hot.

In order to rob them, Vinh killed 8 poor girls. The attack lasted about 20 minutes. Vinh ran home after finding some cash, immediately washed the blood stains on his clothes, and threw away the gloves.

Vinh was arrested on June 15, 1999, convicted of Intentional Murder and sentenced to death, to be executed on July 21, 1999.

The killer kills people according to the alphabet

According to the newspaper Kien Thuc, citing TRT, the alphabet killer has spread panic and fear, shaking the area around Rochester, New York, USA. In the early 1970s, a series of horrific murders occurred with similarities and became one of the most gruesome murders in history.

The three victims were all young women: Carmen Colon, Michelle Maenza, and Wanda Walkowicz. The victims all had the same two initials.

The victims were all murdered in a town that had the same initial as each person's last name: Carmen Colon was murdered in Churchville; Wanda Walkowicz was murdered in Webster and Michelle Maenza was murdered in Macedon.

Suspects were identified as Carmen's uncle, Kenneth Bianchi, and local photographer Joseph Naso. However, authorities were unable to find any evidence to convict them. To this day, the gruesome murder remains a mystery and the killer has yet to be caught.

Killed dozens of women with silk stockings

In July 1962, the Boston Herald reported that a stranger had killed four women in Boston, USA, causing public panic. This series of murders continued from 1962 to 1964, when 13 other women aged 19 to 85, all living in Boston, were brutally murdered. The number of victims continued to increase, but the police had not made any progress in the investigation to capture the killer. According to police, the killer used silk stockings to strangle the victims until they died. Most of the victims were raped before they died.

In October 1964, the US police arrested Albert DeSalvo for raping a woman at his home. At the investigation agency, DeSalvo confessed to killing 17 women in Boston. However, his testimony had many inconsistencies and the DNA test results from the above murders did not belong to the same person. The killer of 17 women in Boston is still a big mystery to this day.
