This is the uniformly applied amount from the central budget. A new development in many localities is that, in addition to the Tet gifts from the President , provinces and cities have used local budgets to provide additional gifts or cash support to beneficiaries of social policies. The level of support, scope of beneficiaries, and payment methods vary from province to province and city, based on budget balance and actual conditions, contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of policy beneficiaries.
Some examples include Ca Mau province, which gave an additional 500,000 VND per person to all recipients who had already received gifts from the President. In Hanoi , there was an additional cash gift of up to 2 million VND per person for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, wounded soldiers, and sick soldiers. In Ho Chi Minh City, 72 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers receiving monthly preferential allowances received a gift of 10 million VND per person. In Hai Phong, each beneficiary of preferential policies and their family received a gift worth 5.5 million VND, including 5.2 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in goods. In Dong Nai, veteran revolutionaries who were active before the August 1945 Revolution received 10 million VND per person…
Besides the beneficiaries of social welfare programs, in many localities, influential figures among ethnic minorities; those receiving monthly disability benefits or social retirement benefits; poor households; near-poor households; social welfare beneficiaries; the elderly; and workers and civil servants with particularly difficult circumstances... also received Tet gifts. For example, in Ho Chi Minh City, 12 groups of beneficiaries received approximately 210,000 gift packages, each worth 1 million VND. In Ca Mau , some beneficiaries of specific provincial policies, but not eligible for gifts from the President, received 600,000 VND per person. In Hanoi, over 1.16 million gift packages totaling 574.4 billion VND were distributed from budgets at all levels and other legally mobilized sources. In Dong Nai, nearly 40 groups of people received Tet gifts, including students from ethnic minority boarding schools, near-poor households, and families of officers and soldiers serving in particularly difficult and harsh conditions in the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK offshore platforms…
Looking at society as a whole, in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), activities such as giving gifts to people in difficult circumstances, those affected by natural disasters and floods, the vulnerable, and those with unfortunate fates are widely implemented across all regions, provinces, cities, and communes. These activities are carried out by socio-political organizations such as trade unions, agencies, businesses, and philanthropists. As the country develops and the economy strengthens, responsibility, affection, and gratitude towards those who have contributed to the nation are increasingly nurtured; the spirit of sharing and mutual support spreads throughout society. These Tet gifts, regardless of their material value, bring warmth to people's hearts and evoke a sense of compassion during the Spring festival.
