The weather has turned cooler these past few days. In the flooded areas, the sounds of refrigerators humming, water pumps, and televisions can be heard... Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang (Tan Phu Street, Tay Nha Trang Ward) smiles contentedly as she watches her two young daughters, freshly bathed and with slightly damp hair, being washed. The rice cooker is steaming steadily in the corner of the kitchen. Clear water flows from the tap into the kettle. Everything is beginning to return to its normal rhythm. "Having electricity and water is good," Ms. Giang tells herself. The return of people's lives to normal is the result of the tireless efforts of hundreds of electricity and water supply workers.

Working through the night to restore power as soon as possible.
When the floodwaters receded, they left behind mud, debris, and garbage. The areas of Dien Dien, Dien Khanh, and Tay Nha Trang communes and wards were messy and damp. The lack of electricity not only affected daily life but also made recovery efforts difficult. Mr. Phan Nam Chung, Deputy Head of the Nha Trang Central Electricity Management Team, said: “The order from the electricity sector was to restore power to important loads such as health centers, schools, and especially the water treatment plant at all costs. Therefore, to restore electricity as quickly as possible to the people in the flooded areas, the team sent 100 officials, engineers, and technicians from the electricity sector to the affected areas immediately after the water receded. They worked through the night, braving the rain and wading through mud to repair the network. Each area that had electricity restored was met with cheers of joy from the people.”
The process of restoring the power grid is a race against time. Floods have toppled dozens of power poles, severed cables, and submerged hundreds of distribution substations; the damage to the power sector is enormous. The floods have affected 1,270 substations, with 97,469 customers, accounting for more than 21% of the total electricity customers in the province.
Despite the pressure to restore power quickly, the power could not be switched on hastily. Safety had to be the top priority when restoring power. Mr. Phan Nam Chung vividly remembers the feeling of walking through the slippery, muddy ground, having to use his bare hands to scrape and locate connections and equipment submerged deep in water. To restore power, electricity workers had to clean each insulator and each cable end of the transformers. If even a small grain of mud remained, the risk of electrical discharge and fire would be very high when power was switched back on. This required almost absolute meticulousness and patience. In addition, many households had their electrical systems submerged in water, causing pumps, fans, and sockets to malfunction. Therefore, the electricity sector had to instruct hundreds of households to switch off the main circuit breaker to check the safety of the equipment before restoring power.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc, General Director of Khanh Hoa Power Corporation, affirmed: “To date, the entire flooded area has been provided with stable and safe electricity, ensuring the well-being of the people. The efforts of the electricians are not just a simple task, but also an act of sharing and accompanying the people in overcoming difficulties and stabilizing their lives as soon as possible. Completing a large volume of construction work in the flooded area in a short time is proof of their determination. We are committed to continuing to mobilize maximum manpower and resources, closely monitoring the situation on the ground and implementing timely technical solutions to ensure the stable and safe operation of the power system, serving the lives and production of the people.”
Quickly provide clean water.
Over the past few days, Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has mobilized its maximum resources to urgently repair the damage and get the pumping stations and the Vo Canh and Xuan Phong water treatment plants (which supply clean water to most residents in the Nha Trang and Dien Khanh areas) back in operation. Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy General Director of Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, said: “To restore water supply as quickly as possible, the company has mobilized its maximum workforce. Workers have to use high-pressure water hoses to clean dozens of tons of mud and soil clinging to the centrifugal pumps and settling tanks. Even a single grain of sand could cause serious damage. This work continues day and night in a humid environment.”
Floodwaters increase turbidity and carry many bacteria. This is the biggest threat after a natural disaster. Therefore, technical teams must continuously take samples and intensify disinfection to ensure the water source does not affect people's health. However, the biggest pressure is meeting the increased water demand of the people. When water treatment plants start operating, almost all residents simultaneously turn on their taps to wash away mud and clean their houses. Water consumption increases dramatically, causing pressure drops and leaving downstream areas without water. Residents questioned the situation, and the authorities urged and pressured the water supply company.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dam, General Director of Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, shared: "Immediately after the water receded, we mobilized maximum manpower to khắc phục the problem and restore water supply to the people. However, water supply is different from electricity supply. If the electricity is switched on, everyone has electricity, but with water supply at full capacity, it still follows the order of those closest first, then those further away. Some areas, such as apartment buildings, experienced water outages for several days because the water storage tanks had not been cleaned in time. With all our efforts, by November 27th, Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company had supplied enough water to all flooded residential areas. At this time, the company supplies 130,000 to 150,000 cubic meters of water daily to 170,000 customers. The company is committed to ensuring a stable water supply for people's daily lives, production, and business activities after the floods."
Currently, in the communes and wards of Dien Khanh, Dien Dien, Tay Nha Trang, and Bac Nha Trang, the restoration of electricity and water supply has been largely completed, although repairs and upgrades to the infrastructure are still ongoing. The availability of electricity and water has enabled schools, health centers, and production facilities to quickly resume operations, contributing to the comprehensive socio -economic reconstruction.
