Ambassador Pham Sao Mai:  China is Vietnam's largest trading partner, largest import market and second largest export market.

Vietnam is China's largest trading partner in ASEAN. The import-export structure of the two countries is constantly supplementing, perfecting, complementing each other, and linking regional and global production and supply chains.

In the first 5 months of 2023, two-way trade turnover reached 63,2 billion USD, down 12,3% over the same period according to statistics of Vietnam Customs and reached 87,6 billion USD, down 2,6% According to the statistics of China Customs.

However, Vietnam's agricultural exports to China increased sharply, of which rice exports increased by 62,8%, cashew nut exports increased by 8%, durian exports to China increased 18 times over the same period last year. Last year, it accounted for 95% of Vietnam's total durian exports.

Currently, China has relaxed its epidemic prevention policy, focusing on maintaining stable development and ensuring growth. Therefore, Vietnam has many favorable conditions to promote exports of goods to China when the import-export corridor becomes more open, the Chinese domestic consumer market expands in demand and trade cooperation. with ASEAN countries that are valued by China.

Vietnam's agricultural products have advantages in the context of China's priority to ensure food security. Over the past time, in the face of complicated and volatile world situation, Vietnam has synchronously implemented solutions to maintain macroeconomic stability, promote growth, remove difficulties for production and business, and support enterprises to recover and develop. It can be seen that the results are relatively positive with the macroeconomic foundation continuing to be maintained, economic growth being promoted, and major balances secured.
