Actor Truong Giang recently released the first images from his Lunar New Year film titled "My Father's House Has One Room," scheduled to premiere on the first day of the Lunar New Year. The film depicts a small family consisting of a father and daughter; the daughter dreams of becoming a fashion designer, while the father has been making pickled vegetables and fish sauce for many years to support his daughter.
"My Father's House Has One Room" has officially kicked off the Lunar New Year film race in the Vietnamese film market, with four films released so far, including "The Scent of Pho," "Heaven-Given Treasure," and "Oh, Rabbit."
Competing in this year's Lunar New Year film race is Tran Thanh, the most familiar face, with a consistent film release schedule on the first day of the Lunar New Year for the past four years. He also holds the title of "billion-dollar director," with films like "Bo Gia," "Nha Ba Nu," "Mai," and "Bo Tu Bao Thu" all grossing hundreds of billions of VND.

This year's "Rabbit, Oh!" by Tran Thanh has a different feel, exuding mystery and evoking a sense of suspense and mystique. Several new faces have also been announced for "Rabbit, Oh!", including BB Tran, Gil Le, Lyly, Dinh Ngoc Diep, Phap Kieu, and Cris Phan…
Director Tran Thanh hasn't yet revealed the film's plot, but he shared that "Tho Oi" (Oh, Little Rabbit) will have a fresh feel. "I hope that 'Tho Oi!!' will be a youthful, dynamic film with a cast of young, new, enthusiastic actors who have a trendy lifestyle. We will celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with many emotions through a relatable yet interesting story," Tran Thanh said. Audiences are eagerly awaiting the film's main characters, as Tran Thanh often creates surprises during the film's announcement process.

One of the notable films this Tet holiday is "The Scent of Pho," directed by Minh Beta, marking his directorial debut in the theatrical film market. "The Scent of Pho" began gradually revealing its cast, character designs, and film images from the end of November. "The Scent of Pho" features People's Artist Xuan Hinh, also making his film debut, and actress Thu Trang, dubbed the "Queen of the Box Office." Several familiar faces have also been revealed, such as Meritorious Artist Quoc Tuan, artists Thanh Thanh Hien, Thanh Huong, Ha Huong, and child actor Bao Nam… Director Minh Beta also stated that the film will offer charming, poignant, and distinctly Vietnamese Tet moments.
One of the films announced quite early was "Heavenly Treasure" by the directing-screenwriting duo Le Thanh Son and Tran Khanh Hoang, who were previously behind the resounding success of the box office hit "Em Chua 18" (I'm Not Yet 18).
The film is set in a coastal fishing village and features actors Phuong Anh Dao, Tuan Tran, artist Trung Dan, Quach Ngoc Ngoan, child actor Mi Goi, Hung Nguyen, Khuyen Duong, Bich Ngoc, and others.
According to the producers, the film "Heavenly Treasure" promises not only to be a humorous or dramatic Lunar New Year film, but also a journey to find balance between past and present, between trauma and healing, between instinct and compassion. Sometimes, a "heavenly treasure" doesn't lie in grand things, but in the person themselves, in their emotions, and in how they choose to love amidst life's storms.

"My Dad's House Has One Room," a film by Truong Giang, hasn't revealed much about its plot or cast. The teaser suggests it's a family-themed film about a single father and daughter raising each other through the simple life of making pickles and sauces. The daughter is passionate about fashion and dreams of attending prestigious fashion academies, but fails to achieve her dreams. The hardworking father cares for and indulges his daughter's desires, always mindful that "once reputation is lost, it's hard to regain." What's drawing audience attention is that Truong Giang's character doesn't seem to possess the comedic flair that's his forte.
The Lunar New Year movie season always holds great appeal for both audiences and producers. Time constraints, financial constraints, and the need for entertainment are the reasons why more and more people are flocking to movie theaters during the Tet holiday.
Directors and producers are also considering the Lunar New Year film season as one of the most important opportunities to launch their products. Some films, like "Mai," may gross over 500 billion VND, but there are also plenty of films that fail and are quickly eliminated. Therefore, the Lunar New Year film season always holds surprises for both audiences and producers.
