Tan Uyen is a region blessed with many natural advantages, including a clean and cool climate suitable for agricultural development, especially soil and climate that are very suitable for tea cultivation. With nearly 3,400 hectares of tea plantations, of which nearly 3,100 hectares are in production, the average yield of fresh tea buds is over 8.5 tons/ha, and the estimated production of fresh tea buds is nearly 30,000 tons/year, equivalent to 5,800 tons of dried tea buds of various types; bringing in revenue of over 200 billion VND/year and providing employment and stable livelihoods for about 7,000 local workers.
Tea cultivation has become a key crop, not only helping farmers in Tan Uyen district alleviate poverty and develop the economy , but also making a significant contribution to Tan Uyen becoming a new rural district of Lai Chau province.
From early morning, a large number of locals and tourists gathered in the tea-growing area of Phuc Khoa commune, Tan Uyen district, to watch the tea-picking and processing competition among the farmers.
