Working together in unity to build our homeland.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Truong Tan Dat: “After the reorganization of administrative units, the entire province has 67 out of 82 communes meeting the standards of New Rural Development, including 5 communes meeting the advanced New Rural Development standards, and 13 out of 19 border communes meeting the New Rural Development standards. Looking back at the New Rural Development program, we are not only proud of the number of communes meeting the standards but also even more excited about the increasing awareness and active participation of the entire political system and the people, viewing it as a shared responsibility. This is a solid foundation and driving force to help localities improve the quality of New Rural Development criteria in the future, contributing to building a more civilized and modern homeland.”

In reality, the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas has truly become a part of life, transforming into a vibrant emulation movement in localities. As a result, rural areas have now "put on a new look." Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Le Commune, said: “Recognizing that building new rural areas has a starting point but no end point, the commune has taken advantage of resources to improve the quality of each criterion. Specifically, to implement criterion number 2 on transportation, the commune focused on reviewing the current state of transportation infrastructure in the area, and simultaneously developed an investment plan in a synchronized, focused, and targeted manner, with particular priority given to commune-level roads, hamlet-level roads, inter-hamlet roads, and roads serving agricultural production and goods transportation. As a result, in 2025, the commune upgraded nearly 11km of commune-level and inter-commune roads following the motto "The State and the People work together."
In the process of building new rural areas, many localities also focus on building environmental landscapes; launching and allocating funds to plant flowers and trees along roads, mobilizing people to work together to care for them, contributing to creating an increasingly bright, green, clean, and beautiful rural appearance.
Mr. Dinh Thanh Hoang, Head of Ngoai Hamlet, Phuoc Ly Commune, happily said: “Previously, the roads in the hamlet were overgrown with weeds, and the soil was barren and difficult to improve. Implementing the National Target Program for New Rural Development, the commune mobilized residents living along the roads to keep them clean so they could plant flowers and create a beautiful landscape. To date, 100% of the roads in Ngoai Hamlet have been planted with flowers and trees. Residents in the hamlet consider caring for the flowers and trees in front of their houses or along the roads as a shared responsibility; the more beautiful the area, the more it reflects civilization.”

Striving to achieve the goal of having over 90% of communes meet the standards of new rural areas.
Thanks to the efforts of all levels and sectors, and the enthusiastic response from the people, rural infrastructure has been comprehensively invested in, creating favorable conditions for travel and trade; 99.96% of households use electricity; more than 5,600 canals and ditches, 30 electric pumping stations, and more than 10,500 irrigation works ensure irrigation for over 400,000 hectares of agricultural land; more than 75% of people use clean water; 815 schools meet national standards;… These results are a solid foundation for the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to focus on striving to achieve the goal of more than 90% of communes meeting the new rural standards as set out in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Mr. Truong Tan Dat added: “As the advisory and leading agency of the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee on the effective implementation of the New Rural Area Criteria Set for the 2026-2030 period, focusing on improving quality, sustainability, and depth, shifting the focus from achieving standards to maintaining and improving the quality of criteria, especially income, environment, production organization, and people's lives.”
Furthermore, the sector will prioritize focusing resources on investing in the development of rural transportation infrastructure, sustainable production, and livelihoods for disadvantaged communes, border areas, and ethnic minority regions. The agricultural sector will continue to develop towards concentrated commodity production, applying science and technology, and linking value chains, improving the quality of OCOP products, developing agricultural and eco-tourism, and strengthening connections for product consumption within and outside the province. In particular, the sector will organize training and provide professional guidance to local units to understand the requirements of each criterion, ensuring that the New Rural Development program is implemented synchronously, transparently, and effectively.”
The purpose and significance of building new rural areas is to continuously improve the quality of life for the people in a civilized and modern direction. Looking back at the journey of building new rural areas, the province has basically achieved the set goals and significance, contributing to building a compassionate, increasingly developed, and livable countryside.
